I am going to miss these cars. Interesting to hear others finding them so tough, I actually think they are quite a stable platform and the racing has been outstanding.  That said, I never take wing off  ::)

Race 1
Happy with qualifying, made a good start and settled in for a good race.  Got a love tap from Jeremy in T6, I was a bit slow in, dropping me back a few position. After that I was holding pace with the pack looking for a gap to pit into.  Every time I got close to someone they pitted so I kept circulating with a few seconds clear in front.  Pitted out of the lead as I caught the back of the field with Matthew just over a second behind.  Came out right behind Shayne with cold, fresh rubber - started to close in for the final few laps when I entered T4 0.78mm wide and the car jumped sideways then onto the curb then airborne into the opposite fence.  Damn, there goes 4th.. did the obligatory 8 point turn so as not to block the track, trundeled home to 9th.. 1 spot from pole for Race 2.  Missed opportunity.

Race 2
Started from 9th, always good in a reverse grid race ... decided to just try and hook onto the back of the fast guys and bluff my way pass... turned out to be a massively fun race.  The race results pretty much sum it up:
Code: [Select]
Hunted: ab156 (avg gap to car behind 1.23 secs)
Busiest: ab156 (avg total gap in front and behind 2.96 secs)
Spent the entire race locked in battle with various guys.  All a bit of a blur but a do recall some more clean, fair and hard racing with my new buddy Shayne.  In the last 3 rounds we have spend 10's of laps less than a second apart - always clean and tough racing.  I managed to use DRS on the straight to get a clean pass in this time - looking forward to the next battle!  In the early part of the race there were 5 guys locked in battle behind Matthew111, making places up as people fell off.  I got a bit wide in T3/4 after messing up onto the straight and getting passed by Shayne Kcender and Grat which dropped me back a bit. Closed back in as those 3 raced, unfortunately 2 went off at T3 the next lap so I was back in 4th.  After Wally went off I ended up in 3rd with damaged but faster Phil behind me for the last 3 laps, focused on exits (and maybe a few narrow entries  8) ) to hold him back, I think he got blocked by someone trying to get out of the way on the last lap which probably saved me.  Put so much pressure on Grat he went for a foul DRS so inherited 2nd - that's my version.  Bad luck to Joe and Grat but I was stocked to bring it home.

On to Donnington.

Firstly, I am really enjoying this car, track selection and organisation.  Wally does a great job and I think the strong numbers are a great thing.

The lower track grip in practice and qualifying caught me out a little, but I was happy to qualify in the top 10 against such a strong field.

Race 1 was a good finish in he top 10.  The first 3 laps were pretty intense and exciting.  It is great to race clean with so many different people.  I was running pretty high downforce as part of my "keep it clean and finish" strategy so was a bit of a siting duck in the DRS zone and coming into the last chicane.  Let a few people past before taking a planned early stop to drop myself into clean track.  Had an uneventful last ten laps, gradually making up places as other pitted to finish pretty much where I started.  Last few laps had some great clean racing with Shayne, had to take the defensive line on Kemmel straight a few times and really push to get out of DRS. Good fun.

Race 2, 2nd on the grid after the reverse.  Got a nice clean start from the outside, left plenty of room on he inside so Kcender got past into second.  Something happened behind so the top three had a 3 second gap into Eau Rouge.  Stuck it inside Shayne at Rivage in some more clean racing - now in 2nd.  Knew I was out of position pace wise so set about setting safe consistent laps to try and maximise the gap and hopefully get a top 5.  Matthew111 zoned in on me so I let him by and lost a bit of time, ended up in a 3 way duel down Kemmel with Shayne and Matthew111 under DRS, intense 10 seconds.  Settled into 3rd with a decent gap behind, an unlikely podium looked possible. Came aound Stavelot at full pace to find someone rejoining the track perpendicular to the race direction in front of the entire field - no where to go, made contact, spun to the inside wall hard, waited for everyone to pass, car was damaged, pitted and rolled around for the finish at the back of the pack.

Pretty frustrated that there is plenty of chat and pressure put on the back markers about being lapped and staying out of the way yet people just roll back onto the racing line in a blind high speed corned from 2 car lengths in the sand....

Anyway, next week the team will have a repaired car and we will try again.

Finally didn't embarrass myself - some decent controllable laps netted decent results. Enjoyed the clean racing.

i'm in if there is a spare seat in a backmarker team....

Hi Guys, I won't be able to make it tonight...

I've come down with a chronic case of the social commitments :(

I got friends visiting from OS in town for one night only.

"Friends" don't visit on Tuesday night.. OS or not...

I am back for more. Great racing here.

Hi all,

Will throw my hand up for one of the remaining slots.  Looking forward to some clean running.

Hi All,

Have been interloping on the AC Tuesday night test server for several weeks, figure it's time to "get serious".  Looking forward to some close, clean racing if I can make the grade.

Cheers,
Anthony
