We need a different Track, this one only has 12 pit places, so today's challenge is to find me a good mod English track track, if not we will go http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/highlands-motorsport-park-nz.10448/, because its nearly sorta England :)

Blackwood is sort of British  ;D (32 grid slots), Cadwell Park is much better since the latest update (18 slots), and there's always the full Donington GP circuit also (24 slots).

Full donnington is always fun. We only did short before in these.

That's a pity, because Knockhill would have been quite a ride in these cars.

Not sure how many laps you want to do for this round Phil , but this track is intense !! Bachullum has posted a time around 1m 45s  I am about
4 or 5 seconds slower , watching AI drivers do a 1m 44 s they are extremely busy !

Hey Phil I want to appeal my 2nd last place!!!

On the 3nd lap(?) went off track, lost 4 place before rejoining. Then in AC's wisdom it disregarded my lap placing me a lap behind everyone else.

I should, nay demand my 3rd place!   ;D

Sorry for the tap early on wally and the carnage that followed.. such a narrow track and tried to defend a bit too hard. From 3rd down to second last.

Good fun after that though battling with shameless for 10-12 laps both of us getting by people making mistakes. I had the pace but couldn't find a safe way by. Eventually he let me by which he didnt have to.

After that I made quite a few passes including a very heavy phil to get myself into 5th only to get airborn going too quickly through those fast s's at the end of the last lap and headlong into the wall which cost me 3 places.

Great track though. Intense and lots of fun.

Post by: AJ on November 24, 2016, 09:30:06 PM
My lack of practice showed tonight. Made a few early mistakes that cost me and then found it very hard to make my way through the field when I started to find pace due to the track being so narrow. Made for some fun battling though mostly with humper and rooshooter, and I really like that little track, so it I had a great time!

I think I might have to drop off Teamspeak just after race start as I'm finding it incredibly distracting listening to people changing gears and constantly breathing into their mics and starting to chatter before everybody has finished racing.

Definitely.  I did quite well on this track considering, one of my best races in this car. I got off to slow start and waited for the field to settle before pushing it.. only to get caught by the ménage à trois between Wally, Joe and Unfkn. Three wide into that corner was dangerous.. Joe just tapped wally which sent him sideways and poor joe was the ping pong ball between the two of them, I thought I'd make it through when they all went to the right but as I got past wally, joe veered across from the right to the left and I had nowhere to go..

Collected myself after a few laps got back to race pace. Then battled with rooshooter and then AJ for a few laps and nearly shit myself and swallowed my heart a few times after side by side through corners and under brakes.. finally got by him under brakes he came off then I managed to hold off Joe for at least 10 laps and I felt my tyres going so set up a safe area and let Joe know he could have the inside as I was holding him up by at least 2-3 seconds per lap.

Awesome race, just wish the track was a little wider, then I'd have clean pants..

What can I say - what an ending!
Apologies to Joe for the early contact, unfortunately I got caught up and had to get on the grass. Luckily I was able to push on. For the most part of the race, I was chasing Bac and Seanus. The 150kg Ballast held me back accelerating out of corners and was a little too heavy to even draft behind the car ahead when I managed to catch up, so I had to rely on my faster sectors to keep pace. lap time was was tight!

Bad luck to Seanus who lost control on lap 16 (I think) heading down the straightway. Bac and myself took the advantage and it was extremely tight for the next 2 laps till the end.

Well done and looking forward to next race :D

Well done to the podium people, this track is intense and 18 laps was a real workout. I knew before the night from my lap times I would be at the back of the pack, I usually judge how well I am lapping by comparing my times against Flattop( he is a better driver than me) and I was way slower. I just could not get a fast line around this track ! I still had some fun with quite a few others in the race though , being a mobile road block.
I really liked Bacchulum's comment about "shaking at the end of that", this is what sums up  the immersion factor of simracing and something that non sim racers will never understand, and why it is so addictive. Roll on next week.

No worries Joe. It's hard on a narrow track with cars that tend to drift about. I had good fun after that working my way back from near the back of the pack to 4th, trying hard to keep my wheels off the grass in places that I knew would spin me. I couldn't catch the lead 3 though, they were too far ahead.

Yes,  it's common courtesy to hold the post race banter until people have finished racing, as exciting as it may be after a race. Last night, Bruce and Imperious were still battling to the finish and probably couldn't hear their own engines. Keep an eye on the leader board and wait for everyone to finish the line.

Sorry about my race start incident still had my foot on the clutch from the start and when i went for a little trail braking into the first kink, the car didn't slow much by standing on the clutch. Rookie mistake. Anyway had a lot of ground to make up after that but had a lot of good racin with Roo, AJ and Bruce. AJ putting the thumb screws on me all the way to the finish line.

So remember kids when trying to slow the car down the clutch pedal is not the most effective pedal at your disposal.

There is a lot of additional noise coming through teamspeak recently, and without being shy it's coming from Shameless. Understand your situation mate, and how difficult it must be racing with a joystick, but any chance of having push-to-talk would be good as your mic picks up a lot.

Well I shot myself in the foot, again! A last minute change and that was the end of my race.
I exited to add "pitcrew" if i needed it, on returning got side tracked with helicorsa not displaying...
I should have realised when I had an unexpected amount of fuel on board... It was default.

I rotated around 2-3 seconds off my qual time and just watched as I was overtaken, the only good point, I wasn't lapped!
There will be another day, next round. :(

It shouldn't be as the mic sensitivity is down. But if it's still coming through I'll test it next time and lower it more, if it's still coming through I'll try a joystick button for push to talk, it should technically work from the joystick I think.

Could be worth doing. Didn't wanna sound insensitive if there was a reason you couldn't use push to talk, but if you have a spare button on the joystick you can just set it up in teamspeak.

Nah, not in the slightest, takes a hell of a lot to offend me. I had an extremely dry mouth and half blocked nose during the race and my breathing gets heavy when I'm really concentrating and on the edge of my seat racing.  The last thing I want to do is put people off their race.

I don't use push to talk on my own ts server. not sure you can set it up to be different for each server. its either voice activation or PTT. But I'll map it to the closest joystick button to my left hand.

Yeah you can set a PTT profile and a Voice Activated profile, then assign one to the "bookmark" for the server.

done. been a while since I bothered with most of the settings on teamspeak. Used to use PTT for years but as my movement has become more restricted I just found it easier to use voice activation.

It's now set to button 7 on the joystick for xgn so should be fine.

It'll only be a week or two when you talk to yourself, before you realize to press the button. ;)

lol yes but I will catch on pretty quick I reckon, but been there many times over the years haha.
