That was a really tough night. I found driving this track you needed to be both Jeckle and Hide. In the opening part I felt I needed to be really controlled and patient, but in the latter half I found I needed rag it to make a good time. With these cars being so extremely close around here it was extremely difficult to pass, turn 1 was about the only place I could pass.

The start of race 1 was rather messy, which others have already mentioned. I had no real clue what happened in turn 1 but as I was pinging and ponging all I could think about was how the hell was I going to recover.....some how I managed to get back to 4th and scored the pole for race 2. Bacchulum, I’m sorry I couldn’t comment on your message during the race, I was concentrating so hard that driving and talking at the same time felt like it was near on impossible. I certainly appreciate the sediment, because Dietmar was epically quick.

In race 3 I had a great battle with Ablearcher for many, many laps and it was a lot of fun. Our cars were so close to being equal it was extremely difficult to work out where to make a pass, despite looking at various different lines there really was only one corner (turn 1)  where a pass looked possible. Eventually I was able to get to the inside of the track for turn 1 (after a couple of unsuccessful attempts on the outside) but ran about half a car width off apex in the corner and Wally saw an opportunity and went for it. On the exit of turn 1 as I was drifting off the corner and made the lightest of contacts with Wally as it looked like he was slightly slower off the corner and he went off. In any other car you could have called this avoidable but in these tanks once you’ve committed to a line there is no way to quickly change direction.

That was a bloody tough night!

I found this track extremely difficult and I think that was because I found it really hard to work out breaking makers seeing all there was on the side of the track sand and/or trees and they all looked very similar.  Race 1 was good as I managed to get past Wally towards the end and steel his 4th giving me the reverse pole for race 2, but weirdly when the lights went out I was given a drive through for a jump start....I’m not sure how or what this happened but I can only assume the car moved when I pulled 1st, never the less it was a great race because with no traffic I was able to really focus on finding braking makers which helped me for race 3.

The start of race 3 was epic, there was cars spinning off everywhere and in these old clunkers it’s so hard to zig, once you’ve already committed to doing a zag. Eventually I caught up to Bueller and we had a great battle. For a couple of laps I could get close, but not close enough and then when I thought I’d finally found a way up the main straight there was no where for me to pass and then survive turn 1 so I had to press on and hope for another chance. Eventually he slid a little wide at the final turn and I could pass for the lead with 2 laps to go. To his credit the racing was very clean and I’m sorry for what looked like weaving in Ecco valley on the last lap but I was in the middle of the mother of all tank slappers and needed the full width of the circuit to hold on and make the next corner.

That was a phenomenal night  :o !

I was shocked as hell when I saw a 2m28 during the second race, I don’t know where that came from, but I really clicked with this place. I know these cars are a real bitch to rag out lap after lap, but running around at eight 10ths, turning in way too early and drifting out seems to suit me.....

I had a though battle with Wally in the first race when the gap would eb and flo depending on where we were on the track. I was really weak at the corner before and after the bridge and I felt like I had a better run off the last two corners onto the start finish straight. The reverse grid race was rather interesting and after avoiding the turn 1 shenanigans it was a matter of waiting my time and slowly getting making my way to the front where I was able to take advantage of peoples mistakes.

Words can’t describe how I’m feeling at the moment as this has been the best night of my sim racing life! .

Are the server issues resolved.  I've downloaded the track from the link but still getting a missing content issue in CM.

Thanks for asking Freezer, I tried last night and couldn’t find the server.....hopefully it’s found before 7:30

Results are up. Round winner was bradc.

Yeah me! I didn’t expect to be that competitive in the old Pony, but I was  ;D

This track is really like a Monaco of the desert as in these old cars it’s so, so easy to drop a wheel off the track and get bogged in the sand traps and there isn’t many places where there is more than 1 racing line. At least the front straight is long enough to draft....despite the differences in the cars the racing all night was really close and reversing the grid in groups of 4 was really good too seeing it was such a tough track to pass on.

Next weeks longer race could be rather interesting as I tended to run out of tyres with 3 or 4 laps to run.....

That was a lot of fun, after trying a few cars I think I%u2019ve found a favourite but as I%u2019m going away for Easter I%u2019ll jump into the series at round 2.
I'm happy to start the season a week later, to move it further away from Easter.

That's very kind of you Wally.
After trying several different cars I kept heading back to the lighter and less powered '65 Pony. Not because it was super quick but more because I felt I could get it to turn and then slide it out with the throttle. What I learnt last night was that downshifting at the appropriate time is critical to getting these things stopped without swapping ends.

I think I'll be back tonight, however I am having difficulties getting Discord to accept my username / password......Looking at the lap times, if anyone has a decent M3 set up I'd love one as default with some gear changes clearly isn't working for me  :-[

yeah, nah......I'm just in the early stages of getting my new machine running and with old the settings on my GTX970  I was getting 80fps on 5760x1080 and on my first with the GTX3080 test i got 218fps ave....I then turned E V E R T H I N G up to 11 and got 175fps on 7680x1440, so i think that is a good improvement...just need to sort out my simucube issues and then ill be back on track and hopefully a little bit quicker lol !

What refresh rate are your monitors? Just remember any fps higher than the refresh rate aren't even rendered so not point going for max FPS if you can't use em  ;) In regular AC however even maxed out I'm over 200fps; I just know they're being thrown away on my cheapy 60hz monitors. ACC totally maxed out is around 70-80fps so that's pretty good for me.

I've just got a set of three Asus ROG XG279Q  which are 144hz, but boosted can go up to 170hz but I'm yet to even scratch the surface of their capabilities.

Hard to tell Brad as the rest of my pc is getting on, an i7-3770K @3.g GHz, mb is 1151 pin and I think its about 8yrs old. I am using 3 Dell 27 in monitors at 5760 x 1080, but the 3070's doing a great job, just not sure how much better the 3080 would be.
Tell ya wot, buy the 3080, get it shipped to my place and I can compare them for ya  ;)

I’m going to miss this round as my pc is going in for some work (upgrades) Tuesday and hope to be able to make the next one.

Gee there were some real numpty head drivers on the practice server tonight, some seemed more intent on wrecking that actually practicing and I can’t say I’ve ever seen any of them on a Tuesday night.... ::)

Race 1
AbleArcher hit bradc in the rear corner in a tight corner, but I don’t think it was clearly anyone’s fault. AbleArcher was braking slowly up the inside; bradc turned in on him a bit (on the racing line) – racing incident.

Did you happen to save a replay of this Wally? Reason being I'd like a 2nd look at it as that was a really weird incident and I certainly didn't expect to get turned around. Before the braking zone we were side by side and just before I braked I used my look left button and it appeared as if I was clear, so hence I remained on the racing line and turned in....I'm not disputing your decision, but would love a look at it because I don't know how to replay stuff on my pc - I'm sure I've not ticked a box somewhere... :-[

The 2nd race wasn't much better for me despite making some set up changes which improved my lap times. I must have been on the only down hill section of the start grid (lol  ;D) because as soon as I pushed the clutch and selected 1st gear the car moved forward.....I think I'd got to about 6th on the opening lap only to be 15th after the drive-thru and then I think I got back to 11th for the flag. The last 5 laps on worn out tyres were a lot of fun as it felt like I was catching the next group fighting of AGK, Rob and co but I could never quite bridge the gap.

This one
Gigabyte nVidia GeForce RTX 3070 GAMING OC 8GD ATX GDDR6 PCIE

How does it go GW? I'm tossing up whether to go a 3070 or wait for more stock to arrive and get a 3080. Reason being I've just upgraded my 10 year ord old 21inch Dell's (5760x1080) to Asus ROG 27inch but now the old RTX970 is struggling with much more than 80fps at 7680x1440. I'm sure there is a way to down grade the screens back to HD but I'm not sure I want to as it's very pretty

Wow, a blown box after 11 laps that's not good :o!!!
I've never seen this but that said I don't use the auto clutch and have been slightly lifting on upshifts and blipping on the down shift....
