Just hotlapping on the practice server, I never got any short outlap times. So how did people see dodgy qually times?

Your outlap starts timing at the beginning of the session, so it won't happen if you join x-minutes into the session.
But on the night, if you leave the pits immediately the qually session starts (and we're all on the server at roll-over), you can get a false time.

I didn't either but I probably haven't joined just after the server started. I have noticed it when doing laps offline. All my faster laps on the server have been done after about ten laps of making mistakes, and I finally get one right so I can't say I've noticed the timing issue on the server.

That's a one lap special Joe. I found I can gain, and lose almost half a second on any one of three corners. I got a bit lucky and got two of those right.
Typically the laps were more in the mid to low 13s. It wouldn't surprise me if someone jagged a low 12 or better, if they hook up every corner.

But it feels good to have some pace for a change. I've been struggling for years.
