Post by: Wally on December 23, 2015, 09:35:15 AM
Lotus 25 at Donington Park National (1 x 13 laps), and the GP track (2 x 10 laps).

Qualifying is at 8:30pm EDST, and the server will be up for practice beforehand.

Hi,

I've got a problem with the split times showing in stracker on the Donington-Lotus 25 server. The splits for me on the server are below with Bacchulum's splits in parentheses.

S1=34.217 (21.270)
S2=31.501 (27.407)
S3=19.457 (35.226)

Could I have the wrong version of ptracker? I think it is 3.0.8.

thanks

The experimental 3.1 version?

I noticed I couldn't do certain things with the 3.0.8, but when I went to the latest experimental it was better.
The practice server runs the experimental stracker... I'm pretty sure.

Suffering Xmas day dusty after a few beers last night  :P

Apparently I have an older version of the track.
This could be the cause of the discrepancy.

man either I have to drive very circumspectly to stay on the track, need to have some setup time me thinks...
I like the car itself, just need to sort it.

Bacchulum, I am the discrepancy - not you. I just used your numbers because you are on POLE ;)

I am running 1.11 of the track.

Ive put my basic setup in ptracker too if anyone is struggling a bit in this car.

Wally, you have the same "odd" split time as I do ie S3=19.xxx rather than 30 something like everyone else. Seems to indicate there is a track version difference that is not being checksum'd.

Any chance you could reload it, I took it down to change it to a new setup, then stuffed it :)) and didn't save it

The funny thing is that the track checksum is only working on the surfaces.ini, it really should also check the other track files to ensure all have the same version. If the track is updated but surfaces stay the same it will pass and you may have different track geometry.

As a test I will try and upload all the track data and see if that then makes a checksum off all files, though its 500MB or so for this track so not an ideal solution. The acserver manager should just do a check of all local content then create a checksum file for the server to upload with all files and not needing to upload all the files to the server.

I'm guessing that it only ever checks the surface.ini even if the other track files are present.

What version are you running? 1.11?

Server currently down as I am uploading all the files as a test, should be back in a few minutes but my upload speed is a bit slow.

The test just proved no matter what files are there, the only files checked are both surfaces.txt car physics.acd or fder and DRS.ini if its included.

Yep, that's certainly what you see in the server logs.

You do know there is a chicane at the end its not just a straight bit of road with a couple bumps and some softer tarmac.  ;D

I will double check the track version I am but before putting this up I went to racedpartment and downloaded the latest version. Unless its had an update since last tuesday it should be the current track build.

OH. THAT chicane!!!

That is the version I downloaded. Do you mind checking the readme.txt file in the track's folder? That should have the 1.11 changelog in it.

Just checked my readme file and I am running v1.11 of the track, I think what could be the issue is you may have ran an older version of the track which saved your mp sector times and these are carrying on to the current version. You may need to try and find a way to delete the sectors form this track in ptracker to have your sector times reset.

OK. After looking at Bacchulums stats and then Marty's stats they both are now showing the same split times (relatively speaking) as mine and Wally's. To see Marty's splits you need to look at the Session data in stracker because his PB was done with the old splits. Marty's most recent laps show the same relative splits as me, Wally and Bacchulum.

Could I suggest that everyone check their track version by looking in readme.txt file in the track folder. It should show version 1.11

If the splits are wrong then we could have timing problems on race night.

Yes, good point. Please make sure you have downloaded 1.11 from the opening post.

The strange thing is that I always had v 1.11 and haven't downloaded a newer version since I put the server up. So maybe there is just some weirdness going on with the split times on ptracker. Maybe if someone else runs laps first with the other split times the server registers those splits? My last session I came in after Bacchulum was already in so possibly he set sector times on stracker for those sessions.

I think what you suggested about clearing the splits out of ptracker was possible the problem/solution.

Always someone wanting a run when I am doing something with the server, sorry will be up again soon but I noticed I was being charged $5usd per month for being over my storage limit and I just found the cause of this. The server has 20GB storage for no extra charge and beyond this its charged, yet for no reason the total usage was over 26GB. After looking into it the winSxS directory was the culpirate chewing up all the data for no reason.

After finding this I found a way to do a clean up in win server 2008 that's being run. This extra stored data would end up costing about $60USD per year beyond what the prepaid costs are so well worth getting rid of it as its a cost with no benefits.

http://blogs.technet.com/b/askpfeplat/archive/2014/05/13/how-to-clean-up-the-winsxs-directory-and-free-up-disk-space-on-windows-server-2008-r2-with-new-update.aspx

Cleanup has pretty much finished and has recovered 10GB of storage space, I will do another quick scan and then get servers up again.
