Car
The stock Osella with its 40 litre tank can handle 4 laps of the Green Hell. There's no need to use a mod. We'll be using the stock Osella.
Track
Here's a download link to the track, if you don't already have it: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0bnue09atzqpsuk/Nordschleife.7z (https://www.dropbox.com/s/0bnue09atzqpsuk/Nordschleife.7z)
It's a 7z file; you may need 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/download.html) to decompress it.
We are doing the Tourist layout. To install this layout, you unzip the track into the location, and then copy the contents of the tracks\Nordschleife\Extras\Tourist ver (replace files in track root) folder into the tracks\Nordschleife folder, replacing the files.
Race Details
There will be 2 races of 4 laps with a short break. For qualifying, because the track is so long, qually will start at 8:30pm Eastern (still on daylight savings time), and run all the way through to 9:10pm, when race 1 will start.
Second race will be a full reverse grid.
The first race will have the usual password.

I'm thinking we can use this mod (http://www.kegetys.fi/osella-lopo-edition-for-netkar-pro/) which gives the Osella a bigger fuel tank (100's of litres), to handle the Green Hell.
Details to come...
You can put me down for this one, nice no pressure run in "Green Hell", hopefully like Sandman Slim!
ps you guys, with a no pressure week, your always welcome to come "Mercedes"ing with us on Thursday at Bremgarten GP '54 http://www.xgn.com.au/index.php?topic=199.0

Yeah, sure, Wally. ::)
I see the date, what are we really running, and where?
(I don't fall for April Fool's jokes anymore)
:P

LOL, you'll have to wait and see. Maybe it will be in 100% rain.

Or should I take the next day off for a full length VLN Nordschleiffe 24hour race?
(only about 200 laps or so.... ;D)
-
Hhhmmm. :-\
Just tried to join my own server and couldn't, due to an 'exception'.
The car name doesn't show up in the server list either, this may be the cause......
Have you tried it online yet Wally?

No, I haven't, to be honest. I'll give it a try.

I knew it was a joke.
Got my hopes up and now I can't race the Green Hell (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-T_HHcrj4o)! :(
-
I put our server up with the modded Osella at Aviano, and I could join it just now. See if you can join that server.
Are you sure you only had one car selected in your server setup?
-

Left the 'bath on

That'll do it. I'll put the Nords up on the server, and you can tell me some lap times.
-
9m06s first lap out, but that's 2 wheels on the grass onto Döttinger Höhe, so a couple of sec lost there.
8mXXs possible, I think.
You seem to have the Tilke-drome attached, which adds 2mins to the Tourist lap.
(I don't like the GP part, it's like a barcode on a van Gogh :-X)
-
Is the tourist circuit the Nordschleife without the nurburgring race track? Maybe we can just do the tourist circuit then. That's about 7 mins, right? I'm thinking of two 30 min races (to regroup the field). Might do 2 x 5 laps.
-
Similar, first lap out, I did a 7m15s on Tourist.
The grid kind of goes around a corner, but the start doesn't really matter on a 22km course. ;)
The first real overtaking point is 3k's in, but there's about ten in the lap. ;D
-
OK, let's do the Tourist layout. I'll update the first post with race details. It's a great ride in the Osella.

7m06s:
(and Wally, the XGN server has the regular Osello, not the Lopo one ;) )

Only managed 7.20s here.... hard work too :D Roberto was on the server, running in the 6.20s :o I think he's going to
upload the setup here at xgn, which is nice of him :) More practice needed for me.

The regular osella is good for 4 laps here. I've updated the first post to say we only need to use the regular osella (2 x 4 laps).

Lol, no, the fastest lap I did was a 6:51, with a 6:20 I would be really fast I guess!!
I attach the set I was using. It was made for the latest nK version, so if you feel brave you may try and remove a bit of grip to the rear tires.
I don't though, Nordschleife is too scary!!!
Have fun :)

Great setup thanks, really makes for a fast car around here... but my brain-hand-foot reaction time is alittle slower :)
5 laps 7:39 :-\
-
Great times, Roberto, Dave G, et al. And thanks guys for posting your setups.
Well after 2 days of trying and failing I finally finished a fairly clean lap (only a couple of offs). Phew!! By my best calculations my lap time was a 48hrs 7min 14.703 secs.

Another seniors moment by me :( only half a minute out lol... probably raised some eyebrows though ;D
Thanks for the set Roberto Cheers Dave O.

Here's a few quick Race Results (http://netkarpro.blogspot.com.au/2014/04/osella-at-nordschleife-tourist.html), and here are the Rank Times (http://www.wagenvoort.net/rank/track-records.php?trackid=96&carid=31).

Crazy night. First race was a crash fest, especially after an incident with Ninja. Little did I now that after landing I was facing the wrong way. I took off and then was totally shocked to see Wally coming straight toward me...!!! Never ever had that happen before.
Race 2 was much better, a few minor offs as I started to know the track better. Not as quick as the front guys but got home in 3rd.
Its a great track the more you get to learn it.....
-
It is a great track, isn't it. It would be wild with a massive multi-class field. Can you imagine it at night?

I didn't need to see those!
"Practice makes perfect" is seen by the last race.
I noted in the ranking that I'm lucky 13, again :)
The car is great to drive but I couldn't get into gear!
