I think a lot of ballast will make the cars feel like dogs around this track Phil, and with it being such a difficult track to pass on, compounds the problem. It will be interesting to see the lap times from the "session stats" and where each make sits, to come up with a handicap system if one is needed.

oooooo handicap system, my favorite phrase at the moment,  lets see what amazing annoying handicap I can think of this week :)

Maybe the fastest drivers should run their own race going around the track the wrong way? It's then their responsibility to avoid oncoming traffic?

I agree, if you have not done enough practice this track is very unforgiving, and slower is faster around this track.
Should we change the format to a 5,7 and 10 lap format to have a better nights racing.

AJ how did your race night at this track pan out ?

We were lucky there were only 4 entrants. ;D It was a little messy at first but once the field spread out a bit it wasn't too bad.

Reverse grid should be enough, it's impossible to pass without an error.
Maybe we should use demolition derby, oopps, I mean BTCC rules, 'push' to pass? ;D

It really is hard to say what format, I guess reverse grid will enable the faster drivers to use the sections of the track they are faster on to pass
or use normal Qual position and also see what happens, as you say impossibe to pass withot an error !!
I have no idea how you have got your time so LOW !! I was initially happy with 2mins then a 57 but 52.6 is beyond me.

I think because the track is more difficult, but awesome once used to it, i will not do any handicapping, just a normal race maybe or maybe 2 reverse grid, depending on what everyone is happy with

I'd like one normal, just to experience the awesomeness of the place in a race. ;D
Then a reverse grid, just cause I'm a masochist. :o

btw
52s done chasing Seanus while drunk, could've been some wall 'rubs' (can't remember) :o

Did a few laps practice. Nearly all of them hitting walls  ;D got one in low 53s, then the next was gonna be a 52 something but hit the wall on the last corner. Formula rim really not helping with this car/track combo but have't got the round rim yet  :o

better than half the field quitting due to a crash on the first lap because the race would be pointless with 4 laps to go.

Race 1 was excellent fun, first chasing Bruce and then the epic chase of Gwyar. Very clean racing.

Race 2 was a bit of a balls up, what with starting from the back, having to pit for fuel, being spun a couple of times by Seanus, and also ricocheting off the wall into Shameless. I actually had some genuine passing opportunities in that race, passing Shameless about 3 times and rooshooter about twice, so that was fun :)

Well personally I quit in the 2nd race tonight after 2 or 3 restarts because of the same few people binning it in turn one and then being forced into the wall a couple of turns later we finally had a relatively almost clean-ish start.

I do find it funny how the same people seem to be the ones complaining about crashes happening in the first turn every other race. I wonder if any of them stop to think about why they seem to always be the ones involved in those crashes?

I agree race 1 was pretty good, I just got interrupted by a lady trying to talk to me while I was in the middle of racing so my lap times were shocking for a few laps. Phil was getting impatient trying to pass me.

Race 2.  THREE RESTARTS - honestly? what part of turn 1 take it easy aren't people getting?  I see bradc side tap phil, seanus punt gawaterman and block the track for 1/3rd the grid.. How damn hard it is it to ease off the brakes and not rev so high until you're all around turn 1.  I see one person quit the race because of it.  I'm getting tired of being polite on the race track when I am constantly having my race ruined by people making stupid desperate mistakes.. general mistakes I can forgive. Where's the due care or is this a free for all?  The main idea of the videos is to promote XGN and this is not promotional material.

Seanus and I had a battle side by side in some corners and it was clean until he hit a wall and spun, that was the only good thing in the race (not him spinning). But then I pull over to give Seanus room a lap or so later and get forced into a wall for doing the right thing. Won't be doing that again.  Wally unfortunately tapped the wall which spun me on the 2nd to last lap at T1.

It's not fun for anyone in the back 1/3rd of the grid. We generally don't get much of a choice whether to be involved or not when there's nowhere to go and you get shafted from behind because someone didn't brake, or you just have to wait until everyone clears room so you can continue.

Interesting but enjoyable races. Race 2 I probably contributed to the restarts as I was struggling to get off the line.  pretty lonely race two when it finally got underway with only managing to hold the eventual winner up for a couple of corners... you had some shocking pace UnFknBLievable, almost unbelievable  ;D

Cheers everyone for the race, Tight track and almost blind into some corners.

I'm chuffed I bagged a 1.49.8 - Don't drive it like you own it, drive it like you stole it! lol

3 restarts in the second race, bit annoying knowing how tight the track is. Granted I got off the line quickly to get mid field from near last and scraped through most of the carnage.

till next week :)

very late report, Race one only, I had thought this was going to be a nightmare just due to the track, not the racers.
Very pleased to see everyone adopted a "no crash first corner" approach.  Settled in to race pace for me, ignoring the rear view and only watching helicorsa to see if someone was up beside enough to give them passing room.  This lasted for 4-6 laps, can't remember then Wally and a Porsche managed to nose up enough and overtake, all nice work.

Without watching the replay, the memorable latter section was when Unfunk lapped me, and then watching the sliding/drifting antics of your GT! You not only looked like you stole, but some mean types were pursuing you too! Well done.

To stuffed for race 2, but the GT40 was enjoyable around Monaco... happy. See you next week at Brno.

I didn't save the replay, but sometimes it's very hard to leave much room on the GT40. If you're going to make it around the corner at all, there's often only one line that's going to do it for you.
