Title: S38R3 - Barbagallo
Post by: Wally on July 06, 2021, 10:59:37 PM
After coming last at Eastern Creek, Mael "I hate these cars" found some pace at Barbagallo, to sweep the field with pole and three wins. With a 2nd and two 4th place finishes, Freezer moves up into 3rd in the season standings.

So how is this rescrictor calculated? I read average winning margin to mean the gap they had to the others at the end of the race, but is it based on their season points?

It's based on your average gap to whoever finishes 6th.

So how does Bacculum have more than me when first two races I was about 10 secs ahead? And some people who didn't attend still have restrictor? Or is that just because they didn't attend, so they don't lose it yet?

Shouldn't a performance based restrictor, as apposed to penalty based, not be carried over from a missed round? Performance wise, as is reflected in this season's standings, I scored three zeros for this round and shouldn't my current restrictor reflect this?

Here are the average margins to 6th place.

Dietmar Raath   30.9
Joe   26.4
Bacchulum   17.0
Freezer   4.5
Wally   2.8

Bacchulum did that with already 16% restrictor, so he needs more. Joe on the other hand, did that with 0 restrictor.

Shouldn't a performance based restrictor, as apposed to penalty based, not be carried over from a missed round? Performance wise, as is reflected in this season's standings, I scored three zeros for this round and shouldn't my current restrictor reflect this?
It's not based on your standings, but on how much faster you were than 6th place in each round. Because you were a wee bit faster than 6th in the previous round, you still have a tiny bit of restrictor.

Let me rephrase;
Shouldn't a performance based restrictor, as apposed to penalty based, not be carried over from a missed round? Performance wise, I finished last in the previous round and shouldn't my current restrictor reflect this?

No, a missed round doesn't count for anything, because there's no data about your performance from that round. If you were about fifth-ish in round 1, then you should still be about fifth-ish in the 3rd round.

I reckon I'll be fifth-ish by Calder, if not Barbagallo.

Remember, I'm only closing the gaps a bit, not yanking everyone to 6th!

You're the stat man, Wally, have a look at my historical form.
Trans-Am for example, fight for wins round 1, fight for podiums round 2, fight for top 5 round 3, fight for top 10 rest of the season, regardless of restrictor/ballast.
Once you guys work out how to drive the car, I'll be back where I belong.
My only chance at a good championship result is to get points at the start of the season.

All I can say is, keep sharing your setups ;)

I'll always share my setups.
I'm not the type of arsehole who'll stop helping others just because I'm being penalised.

Latest iteration:
I've increased the high-speed damper ratios to simulate a heave spring/damper assembly.
This gives a bit more stability under braking and acceleration.
As with all setup changes, the compromise is ride-ability over curbs, where a lower ratio would be more beneficial.

Good to see I've got the slowest time on the practice server again  ::)

I did a few laps and was quite a way off Mael's time. I'm just putting it down to restrictor as it's definitely not skill on Mael's part.
