Do you want to use some of the better quality add on track conversions in season 2?
Pros: More variety
Cons: Questionable quality, maybe buggy (timing, pitlane etc)
-
I voted yes on the proviso that they're well tested (by us) first.
I think Aosta might be a candidate (and Snoopy's Nords ;D ;D)
-
Definitely yes, we had heaps of fun in nkp on the better community tracks. But quality is the name of the game. I hate to drop through the ground just by running wide :D
Eg Aosta is not a bad conversion by any means, it's all there.
But then again, if we keep to the built-ins for now, that's good too. We haven't quite exhausted the combos yet. :)
-
I voted no, quality and reduce the learning curve... :D
-
Thats a negative for me, game is beta, online is alpha, last thing I want to do is up percentages for a bad nights racing.
-
I agree with Flattop. Quality is the most important factor. I definitely have not mastered/exhausted the current set of tracks and cars.
We had lots of problems with PnG3 resulting in wasted effort for the organisers and lots of frustration. We have the FUN server to try out the new tracks (and cars when they arrive). Also, while some of the converted tracks are really good and show no problems with a just few drivers problems tend to emerge when running a full field AND when a league race is being run! That' sweat happened with PnG3 - it worked in testing but fell over as a full field tried to connect.

That's what I mean by tested by us, a full grid on the fun server would have to be included.
And the cars have arrived, Daytona Prototype Corvette from TUSCC. 8)

Good point. A lot if these rushed tracks seem to still have issues.

It drives really well at the Fuji Speedway :)
How's that for beta game, alpha multiplayer, alpha track, pre-alpha car !!!????

Had the day off work so thought I'd try a few track mods:
* Prato
* Blackwood
* Brno
* Albert Park
* Phillip Island
* Tsukuba
* Nordeschleife
Of the one's I downloaded, only Prato and Blackwood are what I would class as "fit for purpose".
Brno looks good, but too much grip, and the curbs are just as grippy as the track!
Albert Park and Phillip Island I wouldn't touch.
Tsukuba seems like a nice little track, but the road seems fairly flat and there is a lack of feedback.
Nords is probably the best mod I've played, but the nature of the track would make it terrible for online racing IMO. Driving around it in the Exos S1 was quite an experience.
I don't know who rates these things at Race Department. Most of them get 4 or 5 stars when there is a lot left to be done.
-
Nice one.
-
Did you try Blackwood and Nordeschleife in the Zonda? Pretty interesting!

Not the Zonda but I tried the Exos S1 around Blackwood, that was a ball. Managed to get down to 57 seconds for the lap.
I think Tsukuba would be a great track for a fun night in the BMW 1M S1, or one of the slower cars. The track isn't perfect but there aren't many smaller tracks for AC yet.
-
I was thinking exactly of the BMW M1 for a Tuesday night, mid season fun run. As you say, need a small track though. How many pit bays does Tsukuba have?
-
Tsukuba has 18 pit bays according to the in-game description Wally. Would that be enough?
Just took a video of a lap in the 1M:

Can anyone tell me how to embed YT videos? I highlight the link and click the YT button but it keeps saying invalid link when I post???
-
Tried Watkins Glen (Short with Inner Loop - Bus Stop) and it seemed OK. Maybe the surface is a tad flat, but still one of my favourite tracks. Definitely a keeper for me.

Another one I'd add to the list of decent small track mods is Newbury. Although there is a large bump in the road before 1 or 2 of the corners which seems a bit too much. Great mod otherwise though.

Might be good for a fun run in the baby Beemer.

Wally, will seasons two follow the same track order? or will it change with new AC tracks like Vallelunga ?

I'd like to include Vallelunga, but it only has 22 pit bays. If signups allow (i.e. we don't get more than 22 people), I'd put Vallelunga in. Otherwise, it will be the same tracks, probably mixed up a little.
-
Ohh I didn't think about the pit box requirements. All good I just want to start early trying out the new car.
-
I spent a bit of time on Gentrack 1 - a fictional track - but I think it would be good for us to try. It had 24 pit boxes also.
Here is a lap I did in the Exos so you can have a look. It's a world record at the moment (see how long that lasts!). I did miss a few apex's though:

Blackwood has a hole on the inside between the two right handers after the long straight, the second tarmac section.
It doesn't send you to the pits, just leaves you in limbo until you ESC.
Gonna try Gentrack1 now, looks fast :D

Yes, off the track though. Now there's a punishment for losing it! Realistically it's not somewhere many people should end up though as it's off the track and on the inside of a double right-hander.
-
I just got a bit of a fishtail off the outside curb of the the first and only just dropped one wheel off there, bit of a harsh punishment. :-\
-
Some of these holes were fixed in an update. Do you have the latest?
