Thursday Nights fun racing / Re: Season 4 - ROOSHOOTER's MIXED BAG

Here are my setups for the cars on Thursday Night.
I do not know how long the tyres will last !
I have chosen the Porsche even though my heart said GT40.
The BMW will need ballast probably start with 100kg for each car.
I am using Logi G25 and I find I need to add lots of slip angle to my wheel profile and also tick
the "enhanced understeer effect"
Thanks. Spent a little bit of time yesterday and the only car I could get round in was the porsche. It will be interesting to try again with your setups. Good one

I think Phil you may have been 2nd or definitely no lower than 3rd in that second race. And of course I was right behind you after driving straight off the track on the second last turn for no apparent reason.  Dooh

Looks like the results for the second race were confused by peeps jumping in and out trying different cars.  As people are shown as dnfing in a porsche when the raced an Arbath etc. For those that didn't switch results are in correct order just missing those inbetween places of people that swapped cars

13-14 laps for me in the Abarth. Can't drive the Porsche...understeery piece of  :P and too easy to make mistakes in the Cat.

He he he. The Abarth does some funky direction change type things when changing gears under WOT. Seems no matter what you choose the chances of getting close up and person with the fence are good.

If there is enough Sierras on the night I might hop in one. I never really liked the Benz but ran it because I couldn't get the Sierra off the line
You are welcome to jump in my Sierra , I will be away this weekend watching some REAL historic racing at
Morgan Park outside of Warwick Qld.  ;D

Nice. Take some photos for the rest of us.
Meanwhile I'll try not to bend your Sierra while you're out (no guarantees). Thanks

Humper, did you switch tires to the semi slicks last night?

I didn't think there was any option to change tyre on the honda so I was just using the default tyre (whatever that was). Seemed very inconsistent to me and I ended up doing a lot of early braking just to be sure I was going to get through the corner.
That's a real bummer! The semi slicks transformed the car. Try it out offline when you get a chance to compare lap times from last night.

Opps  :'(

The Camaro was like all modern cars, too refined to be a real drivers car. That said, you've got love that power! And the corners certainly came up fast.

I enjoyed the Honda more. The Camaro felt a bit bland. It was just a pity in the Honda that after starting well, I overshot my braking mark at the hairpin 3 times and binned it in the gravel each time.

Yeah I agree but the honda's street tyres were unpredictable. Needed R compound tyres and stiffer springs

Ok downloaded Bathurst and completed a few laps of Black Cat. Any further advances on tracks required 😊

Arrh Dick at his best! I could watch that all day.
I'll have to do some laps in practice with the Sierra.

Cars & Bikes / Humpy trivia for Bruce
« on: April 15, 2016, 09:39:36 AM »
Bruce knowing everything there is to know about the Humpy, I'm sure he's probably already across this one but I wasn't so I thought I'd share.

So I was down in Launceston at the National Automobile Museum of Tasmania and they had a tribute to Brock exhibition on.
One of the cars on display was the last Holden Brock ever drove. Yep Phil Munday's "ultimate FX" which was built for Brock to race at Goodwood. Ian Tate created a 2.4 litre engine using Vauxhall crankshaft. Running 11.5:1 compression, wade-style cam and breathing through triple 44mm SU's the engine developed 140kW.

Brock qualified 5th and finished 4th. He was also awarded the "Spirit of Goodwood" trophy. All just a week before his death.

Thursday Nights fun racing / Re: Round 5 Date: April 14th Hill Top

Hilltop is a fictional track originally designed back in 2006 for GPL by Strava.
Although it's fictional only it became a legend in SIM-Racing

That is a great track! Very happy we got to race there.
Had some good little bump and rub racing throughout which kept things interesting. Although Phil managed to get by a couple of times (after pitstop/run offs) with relative ease (WD).

Thanks everyone for the entertaining night.

PS. Think I'm out of the loop through not running Tuesdays. WTF is Wally's lights? And why are we not using the AC lights?

I've got to say I don't get the pit stop thing. It's just more opportunities for disappointment and it doesn't add anything to the racing by trying to negotiate pit lane.
Sorry Glen
Hey mate all good,  I didn't mean to force pit stops but rather have the option to pit if you want fresh rubber or stay and skate around, by making the races a bit longer.
Roger. I'll be in the shed sharpening the ice skates up then
