...and I've uploaded Donington to my dropbox in anticipation.
It's actually pretty well done, pits are working altho a bit weird, and no holes as far as we could tell.
Oh well, hopefully interlagos is decent.

Pretty sure you will like Interlagos, I only did a few laps in it but the surface was very nice not smooth. Looks very good and didnt find any issues, to me one of the best mod tracks in AC. I have it up on one of my servers cant remember which cars but good fun.

Donnington was also good, but in a total package I think interlagos is a .ore solid made track. We could run a race at each maybe?

There is also a good verision I found of Monaco but that would be pretty brutal in the f40.  ;D

Sorry Istvan, I interpreted a posting incorrectly and changed my memory of which track...

will change to Goodwood first... then maybe interlargos.

I'm sorry, Bruce, but you must be operating in scatterbrain mode  :D
Goodwood did not come up,  Donington did.  But leave Interlagos, I'm sure it'll be alright.

And thanks for thinking about me in the first place!

Donnington and Interlagos would be good.  I think we've already done Goodwood haven't we?  From memory I think that track had a ways to go.

I've done some laps of Interlagos in the F40 since I was a bit worried that it wouldn't be drivable around there. Wow, what a car. Brilliant to drive once you get the hang of it. I'm not fast but it is fun. Never got higher than 4th and mostly in 1st through the back part of the circuit.

Can people post some hotlaps on Friend's Leaderboard so I can tell how far behind I'll be? Thanks...

Are we doing the standard F40 or the S3?

I recommend the S3 for maximum fun mode.  The standard one feels pretty tame in comparison.

Which F40?
We can still run the 2 tracks.

I just tried the 'grass' version of Interlagos, not good at all. :(
Massive slow downs, all while giving 100fps.
Only 10 AI and none of them could leave the pits, they just bashed into each other.
About to try 'no grass'.

[edit]
'No grass' is even worse.
The slow downs caused my outlap to be 5mins long!!! :o :( :(

I was able to get on top of the standard F40. Still VERY easy to spin out though. Haven't tried the S3 yet. If more difficult then wouldn't really suit the spirit of Thursday fun runs.

I was leaning towards the stock one, but it seems many people prefer the S3, so let's do that.  It's a bit more racecar-like, a bit easier to drive, too, I reckon.

I'm not really feeling the love for the S3. Fart on the throttle and the rear cones around. I'm cornering on tenterhooks.

It's not bad once you get a decent setup.  But that's part of the fun - trying to tame the beast.  I wouldn't say it's any more difficult than the Cobra once you get to know when the boost comes in and the torque peaks.

To me the standard F40 feels like I can stomp on the throttle without care.

But both are fun cars, so I it doesn't bother me.  Preference would be for the S3 for something a little different though.  Or maybe a mix?

The secret is to proffer a gentle queef rather than a forceful smutter.  Also less risk of the dreaded follow-through.

I dont tbink the f40 is much harder to tame then the cobra, the turbo lag takes a bit to get used to but its just another overpowered and under tyred beast. If hsurbyug would share his hacks maybe it would be easy to drive for everyone.

I shall proffer a gentle queef then!

I'll get used to it.

A mix is an idea, however it may just make the night harder - two tracks, to cars to get used to...I think not.
Maybe next week we can try the base version.

It's really only the turbo lag that creates a tough situation - but clever use of it can mean you can get out of corners at full throttle in a higher gear and make nice safe - and still pretty fast - exits.  I've done this all the time on the last corner of donington. :)

If anyone has not experienced GTR2  Power and Glory3 mod ,try the BMW M3 E30 DTM  with default setup, at Brands Hatch ver 1.0,
this combination is as close as it gets to PnG3 physics and handling but with better graphics(IMHO). I am impressed.

Aris the Physics guy at Kunos was also the head physics guy in the PnG mod. Probably not there any more but if they do get into AC then Im sure he will help out his old friends as much as he can.

normal number of runs (2)
normal as it will ever get!

See you there!

(may put up some skins once I get home...)

a starting point was my intention so don't panic i thought if rolz drops in it will lessen the learning curve.  And me.
Should it be Donington?
Yes but it was the only one there,
And one track is the same as another :-*

Hate to tell you Bruce, but the set track on the server seems to be Goodwood, not Donington national.

The Rover Mini downloads are pretty darn big, btw (110MB + 290MB) !!!
I'm not sure we all have it, since they weren't planned originally,
I certainly don't.  At least it comes fairly quick.

But it maybe better to get rid of the minis for this run.

oh, my F40 setup - max camber, much lower tyre pressure (so you actually can get it up to temp) - that's pretty much all you can do :)

Dunno about you guys, but I had lots of fun!

These cars aren't easy to tame, proof is the third race where everyone was going off left & right :)
But Guy & Marty you guys are too quick for humans!

Marty, do you have a nice video prepared of the key moments?  Like the train we had going for a little while - me leading slowly  ;)

Certainly had fun, nice car and nice track...
We have used Donington many times in both guises, but this was the first time this entrance on to the main straight...
A definite must for races here.

I had to give it away, when I did loose the back end, I snap the wheel as it snaps and man, that sudden load really stuffs my shoulder :(

I did have fun too. Downshifting with the H shifter was a challenge. Unlike Marty, I never could get the rev matching to work, and I was having to use the clutch on downshifts. I don't know how I didn't blow up my gearbox. I was slowly getting better at it. I think my PB was in the 15's.

Was fun I do like cars you cant just floor it everywhere, will see if I can put a video together this arvo. I did save a coupke races replays and will also need to include lap one of the second race. Thats where I started last bogged it down but still got the lead by the end of the lap with everyone else just moving aside nicely. No need to show my off a few laps later but I should be able to find a few highlights from these 2 races.

Im not sure how good the track cams are on this track, will need to see but the track seems quite well done and good fun. I dont think anyone found any holes and in this combo quite a few explored the run off's.  ;D

It was good fun when I could actually keep the thing on the road, felt like I was driving on ice half the time. I worked out why I couldn't launch it, I was running 15PSI all round to try and get some temperature in the tires which only helped a little, but made it so it would just bog down on the start pretty much every time.

Post by: Bird on December 19, 2014, 02:17:11 PM
Wow...so 15 psi gave you that much extra traction?   Hm, that's interesting info.  I run 22psi and I could launch all right, and I could already feel the extra grip compared to the default (which was pumped up like a birthday balloon)

Plus the tyres got up to a nice green temperature during the race.

Well, if my shoulder would give me problems, I'd turn it down to a breeze - it's still information my brain can process, just takes some getting used-to I guess.   Shoulder is more important than winning! ;)
Get better!

Sorry I missed the racing last night - I was pretty sick yesterday. A couple of wines at lunch today and I am now right as rain - who would've guessed?

And I was enjoying practise in the F40.
