I've tried just now and got in without problems.  Same, all cars are in the pits.

One note;  there's an artificial join lag; you have to wait ~30s after clicking on the server in the list before you can actually join (it counts down)
No idea why, but good to know.

sorry metal, I can't hear TS over the engine and only noticed you once you were gone.  Sent you an email, too to come back :)
Anyway, I'll see you maybe another day, and make sure you poke me, it's louder and very distinctive!

I'm not sure if I can make it every time, so I'd rather be a helper only.

Hi, as I said in the other thread, I'm using the netKar server, which is free.  Hard to beat the price. We can see how it stacks up capacity wise, although I've read the server is quite CPU efficient. You can run multiple servers on the one box. The connection is optic fibre.

Ok that sounds great.  Can we appoint more admins, though?  I mean you're often around, but if/when you're not it'd be good if someone (or two) else could set it up or kick it into life if needed be.

Loving AC. Reminds me of rfactor but better. I don't get to race often because of Uni but i plan to catch up with you guys for some laps.

Do we have a server up yet or is it in the works?

Cheers
Damo

We do have one, and we can fire more up pretty quickly and easily now.   You're very welcome to join in! (we should really organise something...)

hi all, new to the forum and was wondering if anyone could PM me the password for your server  :)
I'm sick n tired of people lagging and crashing into me on high ping servers.
Much appreciated :)

PW sent, but I warn it's netcode is still a bit funny but it is Alpha.

Hey Bird, sorry about tonight, I couldn't quite work out what you were saying. I was having an intense battle with my ww2 buddy  ;D

On what you were saying, I think I got the gist of it and Wally is definitely the man you need to speak with.

Hehe, no worries.  I've started a thread in the admin section anyway.

Booking system definately needs a review.
I missed the 'session' by 4 mins, then waited 45mins to join a server everyone had left. :(
And once you start the cycle, even leaving doesn't reset it. :-X

They've said that it's a very early alpha solution and that proper joining is in the works...but they want to sort out the major parts first; that is flying cars and other shit :D

Gents, and mostly Wally (I think Wally is running the AC server at the moment, correct?)

I'm wondering where is it and what are the parameters.

There maybe a cost-effective way to manage this - altho the current solution maybe superior, dunno.

If need be, I can set up a race server very quickly - I've figured out how to do it on Amazon AWS (cloud), after pixelboy on the arse forums gave me a few tips.  That's a very cost-effective way to run a server occasionally.
The reason it's cost effective and great - maybe it's not obvious - is that it can be started when it's needed, and stopped afterwards.

Costs around 50c/hr for a mid-sized one - but it's not good to have it on 24/7, that'd be a bit hefty.

So a race meeting can be had for a couple of bucks.   And it can be scaled to requirements (processing power, ram, etc...)

Hey guys.  I reckon the best is to organise mini race-meetings already.
And meet on the TS (I'll have to get back there, haven't been on since the reset, LOL)

Steam was down, but it's back now.  No AC update, though.  I guess they're still working on it.

Hey guys, there is a (probably illegal) version of Phillip Is on Race Dept Forums. Not sure how long it will last, Eastern Ck has been removed already.

Its still pretty basic, but better than Eastern Creek, which was converted by the same author.

cheers
me too liked it that m uch i went and bought the fanatic h pattern shifter replacing the g27 , woops that turned out wrong that was for bjs racers comment
Mate, if you don't mind, would you care to write things out a bit nicer?   I mean using full words, capital letters, punctuations, you know the whole works that you've learned in the school?  It's really annoying to try and read this garbage.

I'm finding it somewhat offensive; it tells me you don't care if we actually read & understand it or not.

Just re-read it after posting, it helps heaps.  There's an edit button.

nice!
I thought a few times that I hit my limit, only to realise it wasn't really that, yet. :)

For me changing tracks and coming back later helps heaps, I'm honing my setup skills with the car as well in the meantime...I've tried the m3/mugello race challenge on alien tonight...sheesh, those guys are effing fast.  And they're like tanks, I came out second best of every bump.  But managed, finally. Funny thing is that I run a pb by about .5 on one of the laps while I was trying desperately to catch the leader :)

2:2.93 - not too shabby :)

Apparently (I haven't tried yet) you can turn the engine up to 103%.
(which is irrational as 100% is maximum)
(I hate irrational >:()

Check my setups - they all use this.  But it won't increase engine power, it increases the engine revs I reckon, allowing it to be over the 100% "normal" range or somesuch.  Here's my setup for monza.  Btw you can lose a crapload of time for any messed-up corner exit - due to the long straights next :)
