Assetto Corsa / Re: My New PC Build« on: August 13, 2021, 07:31:47 PM »
Well I had done the gpu upgrade several months ago (3070) so maybe the old mb/cpu wasn't allowing the gpu to perform as it should.

Finally upgraded to a Gigabyte Z590 AORUS Elite , Intel i5-10600K, Kingston 16GB 2666MHz DDR4 and a Samsung 970 EVO Plus /NVMe 1Tb
AC fps went from 90 fps to 200 plus, so very happy. Wasn't expecting such an improvement from mb and cpu upgrade. 48

It sounds like fun. Braking at the end of the long front straight would have been interesting.
[/quote] Not really, as it has abs, the instructor just told me to brake as hard as possible, which I did, and it just braked really well. Mind you he was telling me when to brake, so maybe if it was up to me and I braked a lot later might have been more interesting. 53

Went last Saturday and had a great time. Did about 40 laps on AC the day before (it was the West Cct) so sort of knew the way. It was in a road standard mustang with upgraded brakes, only used 2 gears (3rd & 4th) but was quite an eye opener. As a bloke at my age, I haven't driven at speed for a long time so I wasn't used to the G forces whilst cornering and braking. Also got to a speed I would never have been my entire life
(204kmh) down the straight, although on a wide straight didn't feel that quick. They also do rides as a passenger in a Porsche 911 GT3 racer so might try that later as I would imagine the G forces would be considerably greater. Made me realize that we really miss the g forces in our sims. 54

I am giving it a miss too, just got back from Port Lincoln so after spending the last 8.5 hours driving don't have another 2 hours in me.

Assetto Corsa / Re: VR - exciting times ahead...« on: March 15, 2021, 12:28:16 PM »
If anyone in Adelaide is interested in trying VR there is a pop-up shop at Westfield Marion (ground floor)that lets you try them and they are running AC on all their setups.
Just tried it at $25 for 15 mins. Not the Occulus, but a cheaper brand. Think they are there till the end of the week. They also have a range of Thrustmaster gear for sale, but not cheap Regards GWyar |
