Arrh Dick at his best! I could watch that all day.
I'll have to do some laps in practice with the Sierra.

Well after my first few laps old Dick's time has nothing to fear from me.....That lap was insane, as close to "dancing" with the car as you can get. If I can get within 10s of that I'll be happy... ;)

Just had a couple of laps and I think that perhaps Bathurst is too "difficult" for a Thursday race? Reason is that Thursday's are meant to cater for those people who cannot find time for a lot of practice and also cater for a few spins without totally wrecking one's race.

I also think it may have a low quality track mesh which makes it a bit hit and miss on grip. Finally, the cars are really struggling up the mountain - can't seem to find the correct gearing without running out of gears down Conrod.

Other than that...

I'm rostered on this Thursday night for work, enjoy.

Good point Andrew, I should have thought more, as I now remember this track/event ends in tears often.
I think I remember imp impended in a cliff face in a de tomatatsio?
Fun first.
Bad timing Glen,  more to come...

Phil. A track? Gentraxk?

My suggestions

blackwood_reloaded
one of the short ks_black_cat_county tracks to have a look at
brand hatch indy
symmons plains
znadvoort
Le mans
gentack

We should try out black cat at some point...

I have ks_black_cat_county up until I hear different :)

Ok downloaded Bathurst and completed a few laps of Black Cat. Any further advances on tracks required 😊

With only a couple of days to go, IMHO we should stick with the black cat...

Hence, we are all VERY happy....
Title: Re: Round 6 Date: April 21st Bathurst
Post by: Gratulin on April 19, 2016, 04:05:09 PM
The only reason for a change of track was that Bathurst would have been a crash-fest - at least for me ;)

Post by: Bruce on April 20, 2016, 08:21:10 AM
Cat track(s) should provide more sure footed racing, and reduce the chance of a paw night.
Bathurst is a crash waiting to happen for me too in the faster cars.

After some laps here I wonder is it going to be impossible to learn for those who dont have time to practice.

I am tempted to change it to the track marty ran last night or Brands Hatch Indy

Yeah, I was going to skip it tbh. Today was my only day to practice it and wasn't overly motivated... :(

Or i can make Bathurst again if everyone wants,

I prefer Bathurst myself, but Riverside is probably the safer option since a few people were worried about a crashfest.

May I suggest Spielberg Red Bull ring v1.3 from Race Dept. Easy to learn
and looks great.

Agreed, looks great, but people with slower PCs might experience framerate drops when the big bull statue is in view (my usual ~45fps drops to about ~30fps).

At this late stage its either Riverside or Bathurst
Title: Re: Round 6 Date: April 21st Big Cat Country

When I first joined up there was a lot of discussion about crashfests (actually had me thinking for a while) but I've raced all the races since then and things seem fine. Maybe Bathurst will follow the same course!  :)

Right, I am tempted to make it Bathurst but reduce it to a 30 min race, how many laps would that be and does anyone object
Title: Re: Round 6 Date: April 21st Big Cat Country
Post by: slideways on April 21, 2016, 10:27:16 AM
Doesn't worry me whether we race Riverside and then have a sunday Bathurst race or revert back to Bathurst....I still get to race at Bathurst.. ;D
Without further testing about 12 laps for me, maybe 13 if I get a bit more pace.

In settings do you have "fast approximate anti-alaising" turned off?
It has a big impact on FPS.

Yeah definitely off. That and the Reflection refresh rate made the two biggest differences to FPS for me.

Congratulations everyone, Awesome effort all round to compete in 1 hours races :)

And a big thanks to Bruce for selflessly organizing a season that you knew we would all enjoy,

Though race! Around lap 20 I realized the change in tires was a big mistake and there was no way I was going to make up the time I lost in pit lane. Completely overdriven the car in the last few laps resulting in some hilarious spins.  Luckily I was in good company...bad luck Phil

Congrads Gratulin for the win and Phil for the season.

LoL the BMW was slippery at the end, I had a spin on lap 3 or so and with about 3 to go I went off two laps in a row, all same place, the dreaded turn 8,  first time lost a fair bit of time, my last off I was lucky as I saw you do the same thing in the mirrors, otherwise you would of got me

Well done Phil. You had great pace all season.

It was great fun chasing Gratulin all race last night, waiting for a mistake that never came, never being quite close enough to attempt a pass.

Thanks Bruce and Phil for putting the season on.

Great season guys. Love the Mercedes - perfect balance and shows off the Kunos magic! Pretty pleased with myself for the win even though it was reverse grid AND the front 3 cars fell over each other AND the ring-in driver held everyone up. At least I managed 30 laps with hardly a mistake. Thanks to Wally for not pitting ;) For such a simple layout Riverside is fun to race on.

Congrats Phil for the season win. You should get the prize for most overtakes in the season as well! It was, like, where did Phil go? Then you would be back to overtake us again!!!

Another good fun Thursday season, with Phil being very consistent with great times. Nice work Gratulin on your win last night, a deserved victory!

AND I GOT 2 POINTS!

Next session!
see you there.
