As many are aware Forumotion has given us less than 2 weeks to get rid of some stuff that is supposed to be in conflict with their copyright rules. But they won't tell us what it is and won't reply to any questions or requests for information.

With that in mind, we are making plans for a new home. More details on that very very soon. What I would like to request right now is for everyone to start backing up anything they can for reposting at our new home.
To say the least, this is heartbreaking for me and everyone else who has been here for such a long long time. 13 years is a long run. But we aren't finished yet. I hope that we can move to the new location and keep growing. I know at our new home the people who run the place will respond if there is a question 24/7. So, please, back up anything you can, and let's get ready to surge forward.

We have 25,000 members and even though a small portion of them are active, they are all important to us.

I will have more information to provide in the very near future.

It's not going to be pretty....a tough track.  All the bumps and off camber turns make it fun.  I'd love to know how to set the car up a bit better to suit it.  I've just soften the springs up a bit, dialed the camber in a notch and running about 27psi all round.  Struggle to get low 36's.
I will post my setup and put on PTracker later today. I know what you mean a very challenging track :o 8).

A post from GTPlanet

interesting post on kunos forum in the chit chat.

"Sim Dream Development (or Sim Dream for short) is a modding group who sell mods on their website assettocorsamodding.net. These mods are more often than not stolen, low-quality, and often ripped completely from other games and creators without permission. I'm pretty sure that selling content without the permission of the original creator is not only wrong but illegal, although I'm not 100% sure on the laws around this.

The community have known about them for years and afaik there was one attempt to shut them down after a mod creator complained. They changed their website name to assettocorsamodding.net (which was smart as it likely drives up traffic to their site) and have continued selling low-effort mods to unsuspecting racers. The mods on their website look good at first glance, but are cheap conversions from rFactor and Forza, with very little work done on the physics of the cars and how they drive in general. They're charging users $7-10 for each mod which is simply not worth it and I doubt that they have contacted the original creator before doing this.

I'm making this post because Sim Dream have now taken steps to falsely copyright strike other mod makers and content creators to take down their original content. A friend of mine recently received a copyright strike on YT for a mod review video that he had made which featured the GPL 1500cc mod by Bazza. This copyright strike was made by Sim Dream. His review fell under fair use but was still removed. Sim Dream's website lists the "Assetto Corsa Classic Competition Mod" which features several cars that have been taken directly from Bazza's GPL 1500cc mod without his permission. I'm not sure why they striked that video but I find it incredibly hypocritical that they did this considering that they steal content.

A few days later Sim Dream striked Bazza's mod that he was hosting on Mediafire and the file was removed. So, not only did they steal his mods but they've also taken action to remove Bazza's mods and claim they have the copyrights to them. I'm not sure how or why this is allowed to happen but it's totally wrong.

I'm hoping that this post exposes some of the wrongdoing of Sim Dream and creates a discussion on how we can stop them from profitting of the works of others. I wouldn't mind if they simply converted old mods from other games for free but they are actively making money and being di*** in the process. Let me know if you've had any negative experiences with their mods or services and hopefully something can be done.

TLDR: Sim Dream steal mods from others and create low-quality ripped versions that they then sell without permission from the original creators. They have recently abused the copyright system to issue false copyright claims on YT and against mod creators."

Lotus 33 CC FWMV 2.0 V8
Mclaren M2B Ford 406 3.0 V8
Eagle Mk1 CC FPF 2.7 I4
Brabham BT20 Repco 620 3.0 V8
The Brabham would be the reserve car for those who, for what ever reason, aren't on the pace on any given night.

Zandvoort 66 (Sandervoorde)
Oulton Park (was a non championship round)
Monaco
Brands Hatch
Looks good for a season Seanus, I would just like to do the 2nd run with the RX7, and then the two with the Radical and I was thinking of one race with the RX7 and Radical together and then we could start the GPL season.

Honestly makes me wonder why we don't just bombard Turn 10 Studio's social media accounts with requests and petitions to take legal action against RTM and such. Clearly they haven't been paying attention or else RTM wouldn't exist right now. We're always talking about how bad/immoral they are and why they shouldn't exist, and that method seems like the most clear-cut way for them to get taken down IMO.

RTM is an organization that directly profits from the sales of their "products", so they are a business. Microsoft is also a business and they're currently having their property stolen and regurgitated for ludicrous prices to us and they don't even know it. I'd really love to see some legal action finally taken against RTM in some form as a sort of cruel irony for their false-takedowns they do to bully the AC community.

        sent this email ages ago

There is a couple of reasons that allow companies like Simdream or RTM to do what they are doing:
    1. It is in nobody's interest in the business (developer companies) that AC is still doing so good as it is. Nobody is making money out of that. Quite the contrary, they are loosing money. Because AC is still being so widely played, people don't buy other sims. If there were no AC, people would buy more new sims, so these big companies are basically loosing money with AC being so popular. And this popularity comes mainly from the moding community. I believe that developer companies now believe it was a mistake on creating products that allow fairly easy modding of their products, cause it prolongs the life span of a product, effectively stopping people from buying new products when they come out. I think we will never see a new product released from a money making company as open as AC was. It just makes no financial sense for them

    2. Amateur developers do this for free. And as such spend their free time doing development. A vast majority just don't have the time, knowledge and resources to go fight a legal battle with someone, who more than obviously has all of the above. The end result usually being: "I don't need this ****, I do this for free. If I can't do this in peace, I'll just stop doing it." And in the end they just walk away.

    3. Every type of moding is in somewhat of a gray area. Everybody is at least in part using resources from somewhere/somebody else, so they can't really legally protect their work from being stolen and used later on.

    4. These "companies" on the other hand have clearly identified the loop holes. They operate from countries where such practises are obviously possible, they have studied the law and have the resources and knowledge to force their way on everybody. They know perfectly well that they are fighting a battle against amateurs and that they can basically bully their way through.

It sucks, we all love and respect the effort and talent the developers are putting in for free. But sadly we live in a world where doing thing for free is "against the rules" of how thing work. If somebody wants to make money from something they unfortunately have more rights and more legal protection than someone who does same things for free. It's a ****** world, but that is just the way things are. The only way to fight against is to stop supporting and buying their stuff so that they loose interest in what they are doing. But obviously they still sell enough products that it is worth their while.

In the end we might see companies making pressure on Kunos and Studio397 to somehow stop the modding of their products all together (with some must install patches on steam that prevents mods from being loaded into a game for example), especially if the sales of their new products will suffer from people not buying new products in adequate numbers. Cause no matter how good an engine they develop, and how good the graphics get, they will never be able to compete with the volume of content available in AC. I counted the other day, i have 55 unique historical and modern championship fields with almost all the liveries and all the tracks that these competitions ran on (and i'm counting only the quality ones and not counting street cars and street tracks). The licensing for this alone would cost so much that there is no way to make a product that would sell in enough high numbers to make a product
