Start Times
All times are EASTERN DAYLIGHT SAVINGS time.
Practice: 7:30pm, 60 mins
Qualifying 1: 8:30pm, 15 mins
Race 1: 8:45pm, 15 mins (approx)
-- Server restart --
Qualifying 2: 9:00pm (approx), 15 mins
Race 2: 9:15pm (approx), 45 mins (approx)
Finish: 10:00pm (approx)
Server Settings
- Damage: 60%
- Tyre wear: 100%
- Fuel multiplier in race 1: 1x
- Fuel multiplier in race 2: 3x. This means every car will have to PIT ONCE FOR FUEL (make sure you know how to pit).
You can’t just press ESC to go back to pits! You have to drive there. If you can’t drive back to pits, it’s race over.
Points
- Individual driver points in the sprint race are 24,23,22,21,20 etc. down to 1. The main race is double points, 48, 46, 44 down to 2.
- Team points are the accumulation of the individual team member's points. If a reserve stands in for an absent team member, they score points for the team.
- Each driver's worst round is dropped, and the worst team round is also dropped.
- Fastest lap bonus: 1 point awarded at the end of each race for the driver who sets the fastest lap time.
Penalties
- If a driver hits someone carelessly in turns 1 or 2 at the start of a race and it pushes them off the track or spins them, they get a 4 point penalty, and the driver hit will get a 4 point bonus. You still have to redress any gained positions.
- If a driver gets two turn 1 or 2 penalties in a season, they will have to skip the first qualifying session of the next round and start the race from the back of the grid.
- No other penalties will apply. The usual respect for other drivers and redressing unfairly gained positions will be expected as always.
- Penalties and bonuses are doubled in the main race.
Car Allocation
In round 1, everybody drives the MP4-12C GT3.
In subsequent rounds, you are allocated a car from the following list (fastest to slowest) to minimise the gap between your fastest lap (averaged over the previous round's races) and the average of everyone’s fastest lap. You car might change every week. The faster you are than the average, the slower the car you get next round, until lap times are closer.
If you miss a round, you stay in the same car that you last drove. People joining after round 1 get the "middle car" - the MP4-12C GT3.
Ferrari 599XX EVO
BMW M3 GT2
Ferrari 458 GT2
McLaren MP4-12C GT3
P4/5 Competizione
Mercedes SLS GT3
Lotus Evora GTC
Lotus Evora GX
Rules
- Track Limits. The AC track cutting penalty system will not be used. You must keep at least one wheel within the track boundary, typically delimited by white lines. This won't be enforced. It is an honour system.
- Redress. If you gain position advantage over another driver by colliding with them such that their car leaves the track, or by cutting the track yourself, you are expected to redress your position as soon as safely possible. Gaining position by "reasonable" side-by-side contact is allowed, but rear collisions must be avoided. This won't be enforced. It is an honour system.
- Track Re-entry. You must always re-enter the track with extreme caution. Any collision on re-entry must be redressed.
- Assists. Driving assists like ABS and TC can be used only if available on the car. There is no forced driving view.
- Map and Mirrors. To assist in knowing where other cars are around you and on track (especially for leaving pits and re-entering the track after a spin), it is recommended to use the virtual mirror (F11) and turn on the track map which shows the nearby cars.
- Tyres. There are no restrictions on tyre choice.
- Pit Window: There are no restrictions on pitting.
Server Details
The AC server is called www.xgn.com.au TUE RACE (http://www.xgn.com.au-TUE-NIGHTS)
TeamSpeak is encouraged. The server is ts.xgn.com.au.
Driver Sign Up
Reply in this thread to sign up for the season. Numbers are limited to 24 (limited by pit boxes). Extra drivers go on the reserve list, to be called up into a race if a position becomes available.
If a driver doesn't show up on race night without notification, they get a * on the entry list. If they get two *'s, they will be demoted to the reserve list, so someone else can get a race.

"To post, or not to post"
I thought it better to show I am interested, than just to hold the idea: "but would like to see the newer league members get a place first"
If places are available I will then "reply" :)

Yes please.

I would love to have a run please.

I'll be there! These cars will suit me much better than the last lot ;D
Hopefully Dick joins in too - long races aren't so bad!

This could be interpreted in one way; not depending on how confused Wally is reading this,...
I can do that, too...

Good timing Imp!

I still want people to sign up even if the grid appears full, to gauge interest and numbers.

I'm happy to be a reserve Wally! Just not interested in the long races. Way, way out of my league atm.
-
Put me in for a reserve please Wally, but please put newer members in front of me on the list.

The longer race would be pretty much the same as we ran last season its just instead of a qualy session between 2 10 lap races you just have a pitstop. The 3 race format was pretty much about 60 laps in a row if you count the 3 races and qualy sessions. There wasnt really much time for a break in between races, so if you were ok to run all sessions it should be quite similar.

Yeah I hear ya mate, but 45 minutes straight is not something I want to do even once, let alone each week lol. Concentrating for 12-14 laps is my limit. Then, not only that, I've got to keep it on the black stuff. Still pretty hard for me to do constantly. Also, I can just see it, minute 40, I'm 6 laps down, losing concentration, already rammed Gratulin off track. The race leaders are coming around me again, I mess up, take them out.. Gratulin gets past and wins.. I don't think any of us want to see that happen... ;)
I just don't have the skill level to handle long races. I'd just be in the way!
-
I think you need to give yourself more credit, you're getting much better. If I were you I'd try it at least once, before saying no...I mean the only way to learn racecraft is by doing it. Believe me, we've all be there where you are right now. We just kept racing :)
And Bruce, too, you should really race with us, the field isn't as round if you're not around :) (hey, it rhymes!)
-
Dick these cars with factory TC wont be quite as tricky and I remember not long ago you were calling me names when I made races 6 laps on the public server. You were refusing to run more then 3 laps at the time now your up for 12 to 14 and 45 minutes would only be another 8 or so laps on top of that.
Also dont worry too much about the leaders lapping you, all you need to do is drive a normal line and not block they will find their way around. I dont think I lapped anyone last season either so with a little boost with the better cars for the slower guys your not likely to get lapped more then once if at all even over that distance. I followed you a little at Spa in the Cobra and your definitely getting much better as I barely gained on you until you locked up and ran wide.
With a larger grid there will be a mix of levels and so everyone will have someone to race, the more you race others the better and more comfortable you will get at it. I must say in the seasons I have ran with XGN its all been pretty good with hardly any contact except for a couple of big shunts at the start of races which I luckily avoided most times. Ive definitely never had any issues with you dick except in practice if I am stopped off track you will go out of your way to try and push me back on. ;D
-
Dick , I enter the longer races and often get lapped, but between the start and finish, most times I have a good racing, not trying to win, but to pace myself and have that achievment... and adding to marty's comments, your driving is improving, these cars are easier to drive, keeping our 'our limits', this will allow you get more enjoyment, practice for for a single race at time and...
ta da!
-
And to echo Bird's sentiments, it really is good racing experience. Try it at least once. Pitstops spice things up a bit, strategy wise.
Hopefully one day we'll have rain and night racing to play with as well, for even more variety.
-
Dick will race. You'll see.
On another note, it looks like my organisation is about to get a whole lot bigger in the coming months so I will probably be away setting up new offices and MIA again for some of the race nights.
I wonder whether Monday nights would suit everyone a little better? Just a thought.
-
Bring on the rain! ;D
-
Bring on the rain! ;D
Yeah, rain + cobra = a whole winter season!
-
You guys are too kind. Thanks for all the support!!!
But I'm sorry it's just something I don't want to do at this stage, or can do! I would be turned off SIM racing for good if I tried. I just know it.
I'm barely staying interested as it is. I was expecting a lot more from the damage model. Indestructible cars are bad. Real bad. If I get hit hard/soft I expect it to be final. I expect my car to be a piece of crap if it gets smashed.
But got to give it some time.
Anyway, thanks guys. I'm learning a lot faster then I would by myself against AI or on public servers. But at this stage I have absolutely zero desire to race for 40mins.
You're right Marty, if I could have it my way all races would be max 4 laps!!!!
-
Ill race in this one :)
-
It won't be any fun without you, Dick! Give it a shot - even if you just sit in pits and rest after a few laps it's worth a shot ;D
-
I've updated the first post with all the gory details.
Read the red bits at least :)
If the last round on Dec 23 is too awkward for people on holidays, post it up, and we'll see if we need to postpone over the holiday period.
-
very nice, Wally, many thanks!
-
OK. We know what the target lap time is for the MP4 at Imola - 1:36!! Bacchulum has the world record. So I'm only 17seconds off the pace >:( :( :o 8) :-X :-\ :'(

You're good, Viper. I'll give preference to regulars.
-
hmm seeing the car list , I think its more of preference if car is faster or not as GT2 and GT3 cars are very balanced in each class. For me , the SLS is much faster than MP4-12C GT3 in tracks like Spa whereas 458 GT2 can be faster than M3 GT2 in some tracks as well. I see that we have 4 classes of cars here , Hypercar , GT2 , GT3 and the Lotuses. No Z4 GT3 is going to be used?
Anyway , cant wait for this race :) GT racing are fun.
-
Not sure if the Z4 not being included is an error by Wally or intended.
-
I took the Z4 out because it was virtually the same timewise as one of the other cars and had nothing to offer handicap-wise. BMW are represented by the M3 :)
-
I guess I probably wont get to drive a gt3 anyway but there isnt really all that much between them. Only some cars favour some tracks over others but its the same with the gt2 cars. Race pace I dont see much between any of them within their class and I guess thats the point of the classes. Its just cool to see different cars even if they end up with similar laptimes they all do it quite differently. It doesnt do much for handicapping but spices up racing a bit with people in similar performing cars.
I did try the 3 gt cars at Imola and race pace was within a couple tenths in all 3, was kind of shocked at the pace I can get from meds and hards but still struggle for much more out of the softs. Im only about 1.2 sec between soft and hards but softs last 1 lap meds start to go a little around lap 10, hards may be the better option as a 1 stop race it wont drop off at all but they do take an extra lap or so to get up to temp.
The strange thing is how good the mp4 feels whioe the Merc feels like a bus but easioy does a similar time and more consistant. The z4 feels quite sketchy in my current setup but also runs pretty much the same times and thats one of the main things I like about AC. Its not just about the laptime but you need to drive each car in a different way to get the same times.
-
Insomiac is unfortunately not able to race in the rest of the season due to personal commitments, so I've given his regular spot to M8R.
-
Sadly i cant join the final 2 rounds as got bit busy for those days , put me to reserves. Had fun having tuesdays with you guys though bit of bad luck. Hope next season will be better :). thanks.
-
Bit of a bummer, Aiman, hope to see you back soon!
(maybe on thursdays you're still ok?)
