Server's up. It's a beautiful clear day in Mugello, sunny and 19 degrees then 22.

I'm still at work and it's unlikely I will be home in the next three hours. Hopefully see you next week.

I'll leave you on the grid just in case.

Wally, I've decided to pull out of this current Tuesday night series, I have not been enjoying it mainly due to issues
with these cars and FFB issues with my G25.
These issues only show up with these Lotus cars, don't know why and can't be bothered to spend any more time
trying to figure it out. Turning off road effects only slightly helped.
I'm still here for Thursdays of course and will keep an eye out for the next Tuesday season and see what that is like.

Have you tried adding some filtering to the FFB in the AC settings? That might smooth excessive knocking, if that's what you're experiencing.

I think an app can still be active if it's ticked in the options. But in your case, I would guess that it's apps being displayed on the screen while you're driving that may be causing issues.

I often drive at either early morning or late afternoon, because with God rays and all, it often looks brilliant. I don't set the league races like that though because the sun is often too bright for some people.

As we've done before too, its relatively easy to do telemetry comparisons between two people using AIM Race Studio. But the conclusion is always the same - Guybrush brakes later and gets on the throttle earlier.

Heres some telemetry we looked at earlier:

Thanks! Also what is the TS3 IP?

I'll make sure you can get into the AC channel on Tuesday night.

So here's how my debugging went:

* turned off all apps.
* Hurrah! No problems racing on a server.
* Turned on a couple of important apps I use... Some artifacting and a little stuttering... onto something here.
* Turn off Mini Apps... all good again... it has to be Mini Apps then...
* Turn on Mini Apps to double check... everything fine!...
* Jump into server with Minorating to see if that was the issue... No problem, some slight stutter.

So my conclusions thus far is that my problems could be none, some or all of my apps and it may or may not be Minorating.  Problem solved!  Next step is to see if driving with white socks v black socks is causing my problems.

I have seen that the way the apps are drawn on the screen has given SLI configurations grief in the past. I know you don't have SLI, but it shows that there's something fishy or different about the way the apps are drawn on the screen. Perhaps any apps at all is stressing your video card somehow. So if you have all apps off, everything's good? Is that at least a fact?

Hey Wally! Is there an spot for me in the next race? Would love to join in for the rest of the season

Yep, you're on the grid. I think I put you in an Evora GTC.

First of all, thanks for posting the video.

Funny eough, I was watching the video and noticed your braking points were all a few meters earlier than mine... So I was wondering what I was doing wrong, as---and with sincere modesty: I am proud to say so---all the rest seemed to be spot on (bar, of course, the fact that I fuck it up once per lap). Then I figured it out: you're doing the same lines and the same throttle, but with half the rear wing I need for that! I don't know how you keep it on track, as your top speed is like 10km/h higher than mine. No wonder you need to brake a few meters earlier. :(

I am not too sad of where I am, but my pb on optimal conditions of 1.48.9 is still very far...

One of the main tricks is to be able to find the setup compromise which gives the best total lap time or gives an advantage in a race. In these cars it seems lowering aero especially at the faster tracks will give the advantage and at Mugello passing on the main straight is really the best chance. Even if a higher aero setup can get a laptime not too far away you will be a sitting duck down the straight and the cornering or braking advantages are in sections where you most likely cant use this to pass others anyway. So if you end up mid pack you may just be stuck there and held up quite badly unable to pass and losing out very badly down the straight.

Yes, this is an important point. Unless you can time your pitstop to get clear track, but that's never guaranteed.

Don't know. I used to play Unreal Tournament on my laptop, and the same map would have screwy walls and floor in the same place. Maybe a video driver update is somehow incompatible.

Previously with vsync on I'd get times where the FPS would drop really low. Will give it another try though if its been improved.

Yes, the frame rate will drop from 60 to 30, for instance, exactly halving, if it drops too low. I seemed to be OK, stuck on 60 FPS. There is also NVidia adaptive vsync (which only applies vsync while your FPS is above 60, to avoid it dropping down to half your refresh rate), but I wanted to use the vsync built into the game (as opposed to the video driver), to try out Kunos' recent optimisations.

A put together a track guide video.  Not the best lap, but may be useful?

Excellent stuff Guybrush! Seeing the final lap was really good. Maybe you could throw some slomo in on some of the corner guides (although the replay controls are a little fiddly).

As we've seen from your telemetry in the past, it's amazing how late you brake and how early you get on the throttle. If I (and probably most of us), try to brake that late, I can't seem to pull the car up. I think you have mastered how much brake pressure to put on to get the maximum stopping effect without locking up, whereas most of us are probably too tentative on the brakes.

Also, if I get on the throttle as early as you, I seem to understeer off too easily. Maybe that comes down to setup.

I am having all sorts of trouble with AC.  If it's not stuttering intermittently, it's creating objects all over the track or it's freezing for a second or so at a time, or crashing all together.

I don't know if it's Windows 10 related, but I've been having issues ever since 1.2.
To me, that sounds like a dying or overheating video card, if you're getting weird artefacting like that. I used to game on my laptop, but over time it started to draw extra surfaces here and there, and now I can't really game on it any more.

mankini?

You can't see Guybrush's leopard skin print racing boots in this shot.
