Hi all.
Thought I'd share some of my setups via Dropbox:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ymjaam3zbhsgekh/AAC4IqrcBa8p4_zUXI7C0BGFa
I've created links to my AC folder so if I make a change down the track the setup in Dropbox should also change.
There's only a few that I wouldn't go back and fine-tune too much. Most though are just what I've created in the 10 minutes or so of practice/qualifying when the cars and tracks come up in MP.
The Formula Abarth @ Monza is one that works particularly well for me and I spent a bit of time on.
I'm new to setups so I'm sure there are some other changes that could be made (there are a few settings I don't touch) but I hope it helps.
Cheers.
-
Thanks GBTW ;D
Will have a crack with them for sure and report back.
-
Hmmm, bugger. It doesn't seem to be syncing automatically. I have to manually click the sync button. Any tips?
All fixed.
-
Wouldnt mind a setup in the Thurs nite cars especially the old lotus at old Monza my least favourite combo so dont want to have to run too many more laps then I need to. ;)
Could be way more fun in a race then boring hotlaps

There should be setups for both Thursday night races - "Lotus 49 - Monza 66", and "Ferrari 312T - Monza GP". Let me know if they aren't there.
I'm a fan of the old Lotus, although I'm not particularly quick with it, but it's fun sliding it around.
-
I'm currently faster in the 312T@monza with default downforce level. Race should be interesting when we see what people use. It's a long way to T1 :)
-
Yeah, I need downforce here too. At first I thought "Monza... drop the wings".
-
Ok Thanks got all your sets will try a few and post my own here If I find any of mine better for me at least.
-
I thought this thread is worth a sticky - here's my group A setup for imola. I did a 59.2 with it at some point...which I can't really replicate now :)
btw it goes into bmw_m3_e30_gra

Not bad bird,i gave it a spin to compare with the one I had already and I an finding it a bit over steering.
...great time though

I like oversteering, remember ? :)
-
I will give yours a try Bird, I just spent a bit of time trying just about everything low df high df and each set I can get a high 59 same as the default lol. Seems no matter what I do it balances out over a lap and gets pretty much the same lap time but still anything under 2 min is a pretty solid lap for me.
-
I tried Birds but Im not good enough to drive that consistently ;D I did borrow your gearing though as that's probably where I was most lost.
I still cant get the braking right and really locks up easily but did 1:58.75 which ran just wide exit of piratella so wasn't RSR legal but did a low 1:59.19 in RSR. Could do sub 58 with this as I was .7 under my best then messed up the last turns, sifts are only optimum on the 3rd lap I find but they do last quite well and this can do low 59's quite easily I think.
I dont know if this car as any rear brake I made changes to this but could still lock fronts at 78 balance but reducing front camber improved this quite a bit but its still pretty tip toey on the brakes as they are at the edge of locking just slightly all the way around for me.

Bird's setup just took 1.5 seconds off my PB within 5 laps! Feels almost perfect for me. Might fiddle with the brake bias a little but other than that it feels spot-on. Thanks Bird.
-
With Bird's setup, I could do a 2:01.891. But with Marty's setup, I got to a 2:00.671. I made a few further tweaks to Marty's - just moved the brake bias more rearward as I was locking up too much, to 67, and also lowered the front/rear rollbars to 0/3 to reduce the temp difference left and right. This got me down to 2:00.214, about 1.2 seconds off my PB.

Projekt Rennesport have built themselves a solid foundations of two rules,
Rule #1: Never give out to much information.
;D
Honestly, thanks for this thread, with out it we would be in a bit chit, I am going to give all your set ups a run tonight!
-
Ditto Glen :-[, Aleph Null AC setups are crap! :o
-
Time for me too upgrade to Bird's later setup, I knocked out a 2:02.2 last night on earlier version but RSRLIVETIMING was not happy with all my lines :( but still a PB

We won't be so friendly next round ;)
-
I'll give Marty's a try.
I just made some tweaks to Bird's setup - adjusted front and rear toe, gearing and springs. Seems to go over the curbs a little better but easily bogs down at the rear mid-corner if pushing too much.
Very frustrating at the moment. Hard to put together 3 good sectors, my combined PB is 4 tenths quicker than my actual.

Yes brake balance is a bit odd in these cars I could almost go full rear and still lock front in sections. Birds can be quick but a little too loose for me to run a full race on still just need to get a lap together which is the tricky thing and needs a fair bit of patience in this car.
-
An 'Opps' moment.
-
Good to see we've multiple setups. Everyone's style is different.
It seems we share a driving style, Darren and Guybrush. Your setups suit me well, too! ;)
-
I'm warming to Wally's but I've only tried it around Nordschleiffe. ;)

That's actually quite a nice setup, very stable, very capable, hats off sir.
I think I'll use this for the race - it's much more consistent, and still good for a '59 for me.
But your brake balance was borked; it's 75% front, I'm locking it up every time I touch the pedal.
Reduced it to 65% and suddenly it drives very well, I can even pull it up for a corner :)

Yea I had the brake balance backwards for some reason in that version I uploaded you will need to adjust this and play with pressures a little too, I cant give everything away to the competition but it should be a good base to start with ;)

Having the most success with Wally's set, fine tuning that with damper, diff and springs. You can really fine tune in this game.
-
I'd be more inclined to tune with ARB rather than springs (along with the other things).
Although I have softened the fronts to get a better Hz ratio. ;)
But springs are more car governed than track dependent. ;)

Can you actually see the Hz ratio anywhere?

True, I probably shouldn't have used the words fine tuning and springs together, only dropped the rears by 5 and that was it for the spings.

There's an app (with modders apps enabled), I think it's called car engineer.
It also has damper ratios. ;)

Here is my basic race setup for the e30 DTM at Silverstone international, This is for 19 laps on medium tyres and some changes to pressures you should be able to make it a good set for softs over the few laps they work.
Even with mediums the tyres will go off but wear is fairly balanced front and rear so even at 95% its still quite driveable, really fun with this as it turns in very well with just a hint of lift off oversteer on entry but quite balanced and can be driven for the full race with me only losing about 1 sec over 20 laps. Still a pretty good pace with it and Im only about .8 off my best lap on softs with these so will need to find some more time on those but Ive only ran a few laps on it so far.
If its a bit too loose you can adjust the diff or add one click more rear wing and it will be more neutral but a little loose on entry is best around this track. I actually found it to start pushing a bit at the end of the stint so thats better then completly loosing the rears as I found with my first attempt.

Thanks Marty, will give your set a try :) Dave O.
-
Here is my current DTM qualy set good for 1:09.5 but on softs only good for a few laps.

-
Here the setup I'm using currently, altho it wasn't meant for this track it still works ok.
It's good for a 10.6 in my hands so far.

Just settled on a setup for the Group A at Nurburgring. In the dropbox link in first post.
Very hard track to find a setup which suits all corners. Took me bloody ages!
-
Fantastic. I think GRAers need all the help we can get! Thanks.
-
Not a problem. If it's a bit tail happy try decreasing the rear spring rate by 1 or 2 clicks, or decrease both anti roll bars by 1, or decrease both front and rear tyre pressure by 3 or 4 pounds, or decrease the rear bump damper.
-
Just ran a few laps of Mugello and got to a setup I'm happy with. Got me within 3/4 a second of the WR. It's in the dropbox link.
-
I had a little go with the DTM at Mugello and here is my current setup for qualy, time 1:59.320 so just inside a second of the wr but better lines and some tweaks to this should be able to get it a bit closer.
Its best on lap 2 but my time was done on lap 3 of the stint with rears already at 98% so should be able to go quite a bit quicker.

Thanks Marty, I'm not sure I can 'value add' and getcloser tothe WR :) but I appreciate all who help in this way.
-
Thanks for the sets guys :) always appreciated. Dave O.

Can you get the AI to run your setup? ???

Can you get the AI to run your setup? ???
I think so. It's a bit of stuffing around with special events.
1. Copy your setup to Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\system\setups\tatuusfa1 (call it what you like, e.g. imola.ini).
2. Copy folder Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\content\specialevents\SPECIAL_EVENT_26 to a new folder called SPECIAL_EVENT_99.
3. Edit event.ini in there to change the track, model, cars in the RACE section. Take out all the SKINs (They will be for the F458), and put SETUP=imola for each AI car
Simple, huh?
And then ram into the back of the AIs every time they're way to slow in a corner.

change GUID to 99 as well.

Hi Guybrush, Dick here.
anyway. I notice there you only have the one set up for the Robin?? This concerns me. I was expecting to find a great deal more. I came looking for something with enduro racing in mind. Spa 24 hour.

I may have jumped the gun in thinking that after everyone drove the Robin it's all we'd be racing. I probably shouldn't have deleted the rest.
Actually, after all the RC tom-foolery it broke my setup links. They are in my folder but the dropbox links are broken. I cbf re-linking them all.

There might be a misunderstanding. I'm only interested in Robin setups. A 24 hour @ Spa in the Robins is a once in lifetime event. For car and driver..
Rumor has it, I would find a library, a atheneum, on the Robins setups here?
-
Not sure if 24 hours is long enough to complete a lap in a robbin.

I'm angling toward pay-per-setup for the Robin. There are literally thousandths of a second to be found through careful and specialized changes that only the greatest engineering talent can make.
As the saying goes, there's no such thing as selling ice-free lunch to an Eskimo. Or something.

Hello :)
Would anyone be kind enough to post a GT86 setup for Nordschleife please.
-
Tuning the Esky is a great deal of fun. Tuning a GT3 car requires knowledge I can honestly say I do not have.
If anyone wants to share a set with me for either the Audi or the AMG GT3 I will send you a beer :)

I think this Tuesdays pre season run should give peeps opportunity to share some setups, do you have pTracker, this is an app we use, and one feature is in game setup delivery/curating. http://xgn.com.au/index.php?board=47.0
and if you don't yet have it Sin, load the Helicorsa, invaluable.

I haven't got stracker running on the Tuesday server (yet), so setup sharing won't work. I want to see how everything pans out with huge grids before I add more variables.

The practice servers always have stracker running so people can share setups there if they like. Even if someone publishes a setup and leaves it will stay there for others.

How does one start making a set up? For the upcoming tues league the f138 is going to be all about the setup.
Seeing how there's so many options that all affect each other where do you start? Are there some options you change that are considered "fixed"?

The upcoming season is looking like it might be the Praga R1, seeing how the poll is going. But even that car has a lot of setup options.
I start with gears, so I use all the revs by the end of the longest straight. Then wings, if the car has aero and a long straight that would benefit from as low wings as possible.
Then it's looking at understeer vs. oversteer. I usually try reducing the rollbar at the end that needs more grip.
You can use my Tyre Engineer app (thread in the Apps subforum) which helps you set optimum pressure (which varies with weather conditions).
That's a rough guide for starters.
-
Cheers! Had a little play around and seem to be getting the hang of basics
-
I thought I'd post this link to a page that can be helpful with car set-ups, some people saying they can't find a good set-up and all. I'm too lazy myself, most of the time, to put in the laps and too impatient to make one change at a time and test. It can be helpful anyways http://www.racingonthecheap.com/recommended-reading/carroll-smiths-handling-guide/
The obvious though, disregard the broken/worn out suspension stuff.
-
A setup guide from Chris Hayes (youtube), his setup videos are pretty good too
-
This thread's been dormant long enough so it's mine, consider it hi-jacked! :P ;D 8)
For anyone who wants to try my setups, save this link as I add them as I go
(or will at least try to remember to :-[ )

If anyone has any requests for setups, post here and I'll try to upload at least a 'car' setup, ie. theoretical numbers for the geometry, such as , cambers, suspension frequency, damper ratios, roll centre, toe as well as aero CoP & AoA (if applicable).
And I'll try to help with any specific issues with your current setup, just ask.
I've been reading Racecar Engineering for 15 odd years, I might as well share that knowledge. ;)
-
Thanks Dave, very generous of you.
-
I'd like to think it's generous, but it's more selfish, 70% of my enjoyment in sim-racing is working on the engineering side. ;)
So any requests will only make my day. ;D 8)
-
You are asking for trouble, there is a Legion of setups that need tweaking! :P :P :P
-
Please compare, comment and destroy my confidence. :P :-[ :-X
Nissan Primera, somewhat in Brands Hatch mode but roughly my default.
-
Thanks Seanus.
Not mine, but one of Steve Smith's Primera setups. I've used his setups in a number of different cars and usually like them a lot.
-
I've added a Merc set for Anglesey, by request. ;)
Be careful of changing tyres in the Merc, they have vastly different circumferences.
Therefore, they change ride height and gear ratios required. ;)
-
Thank you muchly , will try it out later tonight
