Thanks all. Good fun again. Seems my mic still wasn't working. I played around with the settings in TeamSpeak after and think I sorted it.
First race is was sitting nicely in the middle of the pack but managed to spin off the track twice and lost quite a few positions. I was getting really poor fps down the back straight and the following corner, didn't have the issue in the test server.
Second race I got tapped by Krahl, spun out and lost quite a few positions, then had him on me for the rest of the race. Clearly the better driver but was able to pull away from him on the straight due to being in the 458.
Third race I unfortunately went head long into shameless who was sideways on turn 1 then was at the back. Managed to get a few positions back due to a bit of a pile up on the corner entering the straight, but then in lap 8 got a tap from behind from UnFknBLievable entering the right hander after the straight, spun out and lost a lot of positions as couldn't safely rejoin the track. Then had a some fun with G0RGAK over the last few laps with quite bit of side by side action.
Bit disappointing loosing so many positions after spinning out, but still learning and having fun.

I got a 1:12.7 in the 458 last night and a 5 lap race where every lap was in the 1:13s. Pretty happy with that 3 or 4 weeks into sim racing. Am sure the tips from WobblyOne helped, cheers dude!
My screen freezing issue did appear again and seems it was that I had an older version of Helicorsa that was causing it. Put the latest version on and no issues. Hope that is the end of it now, been dragging on for weeks....

Can't reach my keyboard from where I play so don't usually filter but now I've bound one of my wheel buttons to 'xgn Marty' so should be sorted going forward

Ah didn't see it as it didn't start with AUS. Never mind. Got a few laps done in practise mode.

Pretty sure it's OV1, but I disabled all my apps to start with and the issue went away, so wanted to wait until race 1 was over before I started tinkering again. I've since turned Helicorsa back on and all is good. I'll now also crank my graphics settings back up. Find I get really poor FPS with Vsync on, so I may monitor FPS and try and max out the settings until I get as near to constants 60fps as I can.

I can't get away from that as my work PC is my gaming PC. My company give a $1000 equipment allowance, then salary package the difference for a work laptop. Of course I got the most sensible work laptop being an MSI GS60 Ghost

Good shit, I know how you feel where my screen was locking up for 2-3 seconds several times per lap. For me, thanks to a suggestion from Marty, it was either PT Tracker or OV1 (probably OV1). Since disabling both I've had no issues at all. Will enable PTTracker again later to confirm it was OV1.

Was great fun yesterday. Sorry Bird but keep in mind this is my first time ever sim racing and I'm still learning. Helicorsa showed I was in front of you so I moved back over onto the racing line before the corner. Didn't seem like an issue to me, but maybe it was a lot closer than I realised so sorry for that  First race I was pretty much on my own and kept it consistent. I definitely notice I'm a lot slower than most people out there and I brake a lot earlier, partly due to being in the 458 and partly just being a newbie. Second race I got hit and spun out twice in the first couple of laps which put me right near the back of the pack. Not sure if it was me braking early or not that caused the collisions, but it's highly possible. Third race was the most fun I've had in racing game, sat in the middle of a pack for a couple of laps trying hard to not hit anyone (except Bird), but then the pressure of that red F40 on by ass got the best of me and I spun off the track. I then had a bit of fun chasing Grubbet, over took him, then spun off the track letting him past again, then eventually getting by right before the last corner on the last lap after getting a good line/speed through the chicane. All in all had a great evening and was pleasantly surprised not to come last. I think my mic wasn't working because I tried speaking a few times and nobody responded

Joe Ive been using fanaleds woth no issues, its more likely to be a 3rd party python app as these tend to break things at times. I know when I tried OV1 things turned to crap and so I havent used that since. Also Ptracker at times with large fields tends to effect my fps but fine with up to abput 15 on it just get worse with 24 or more and live sector data.
Still the shift lights on a g27 are more gimmick then a feature and pretty useless, if they werent on I wpuldnt even notice I think. I use dashmeter pro for my dash data and shift lights. Way more usefull then those tiny little lights on the g27.
Thanks for the info Marty. I'm using both OV1 and PTracker so if I experience issues again I'll try turning those off.

What's the deal with the auto clutch and throttle blip?
When I'm using paddles I don't want to have to use the clutch pedal, so should I have auto clutch on? Yesterday I was in the 458 and must have had it off, but I don't notice and my gear changes seemed smooth. I then switched to the Mercedes-Benz 190E EVO and it was immediately clear I had the auto clutch off. Does it depend on the car you use?
I assume throttle blip is for matching revs on downshift? Again unsure if I should be using it.
