Thanks Phil. It was a success, at least for me.
You'll notice the track folder slovakiaring no longer has any files in it other than folders.
This would only cause a problem if people were actively cheating, of which we have none, and should prevent the occasional mismatch merely from version changes.

Subject to further testing of course.
Members reading this please jump on the server and see how it goes.

All seems cool.
Now I would like to ask permission to test a change.
I thought I might clean up the track folder and see if the server still functions.
Nothing I can't revert.

Thanks Phil. But I think the server was fine, just thought others might have overlooked the recent update. I'll take a look at the server now, just checking. Let you know if I feel you should/need/would like to change anything.

Assetto Corsa / Re: Torques

I remember that thread, over at the official forum? Turned into a lot of people violently agreeing with each other.
Somewhat solidified the idea of my 'Torque is meaningless' line I add to my mods, as to the lay man that's exactly what it is.
Torque, of course, is important for thermal and mechanical efficiency but even then the number alone means nothing, you need to know everything that is contributing to that number.

Remember that at any given speed, for a given Power, the Torque at the rear wheels is identical, no matter what the engine may be producing.

Assetto Corsa / Torques for the win.

Try these two cars I quickly whipped up. Identical except for the drivetrains in each.
One makes 150Nm and the other makes 600Nm and yet they lap and drive the same.(at least too close to call)

caveat: The sounds will make a big difference to the feel of each car and the friction and inertia values for the drivelines can't be made precise.

Statements like: 'Power for top speed but torque for acceleration' and similar is what I am calling out as BullShit!

The 2019 RC213V has much more torque than the 2018 bike. And when you increase torque you increase negative torque. This is why all three HRC riders – to varying extents – have struggled with corner entry, because the 2019 engine has more engine-braking, which affects corner entry...

To be contrary for it is my wont.
They all have slipper clutches and fly by wire throttles and can tune engine braking to the nth degree. Makes the above excerpt almost a non sequitur.

I've tagged the two cars 'V8 Swap', so you never know what may join them.   :P

Toyota GT86 3UZ-FE

Phil could you please put just two Toyotas on the server. That should leave plenty of Mazdas for everyone to drive but if anyone gets the hankering to try something different they have the GT86.
Everything that can be the same is the same between the Mazda and Toyota. But the differences will have to come out in the wash, performance wise.
