Thursday Nights fun racing / Re: Round 1: March 3rd Longford
« on: March 04, 2016, 09:57:11 AM »
I was quite fortunate as all mistakes I made were clean. I hit the wall at the bottom of the
Hill side on a couple of times, and went wide into the town but crept through the obstacles back
onto the track.  Anyone who has ever played some more arcade style games like Flatout and need
for speed knows that Tyres, signs, etc are all able to be knocked out of the way, why in serious sims
these things are completely immovable I have no idea.

Aside from that I had a good night, with 2nd being my best finish in any Sim racing for a long time.
Looking forward to next week.

That was a lot more fun with steering issues resolved finally.

As far as fixed setups go, maybe a bit of testing before they are "fixed" as this one suffers from too much rear brake bias.
That's my opinion that others may not agree with, and obviously different wheel/pedal and software configurations will mean
that there can never be a perfect fixed setup for everyone.
That aside, I am definitely in favour of them, but practise still makes a huge difference of course to lap times, and I didn't do
any for last nights racing.

I had 3rd sown up race 2 till I lost it into the chicane under braking, but that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.

Been having some terrible wheel input lag of late, up to about 1/2 second delay
making this undriveable and a miserable experience too. :(

I spent about 90 minutes after last nights racing investigating. I use a now
fairly old G25. 1st thing I can across was I have auto blip off, which added to
losing the rear under braking. Then I found that for some reason, and even though
I knew to turn filtering off in wheel settings, it was on. This was the main thing causing
the wheel lag.
The porsche also, I imagine, correctly emulates the sloppy steering and suspension
that would have been characteristic to the period. That added to bad settings in Assetto corsa
made it unplayable.

I'm now looking forward to next week and must remember to make sure filtering is off
always in future. It makes we wonder what use it is? maybe xbox controllers perhaps.

Sorry for my no-show. Got home, downloaded the updated car, then promptly forgot about it after dinner.

Will definitely be here next week.

Thanks Wally.

If we are using the Porsche Spyder can the link be fixed please?

If the file is actually on Racedepartment please put that link up, not assetto corsa forum one please :)

I think I had better get the Dream pack 2 tonight, the $7.99 US ($11.40 AUS roughly) deal runs out in 17 hours.
See You on track.

WOW!!  I am famous.  I have an honorable mention in the 1st post for this track.

I have actually downloaded so will attempt to get there by 8.00pm latest.  ;D

Thanks Rob, strangely enough the only issue I have with the Caterham is downshifting.

I'll be back next series most likely anyway, see how I go in pre-season testing

Wally, I've decided to pull out of this current Tuesday night series, I have not been enjoying it mainly due to issues
with these cars and FFB issues with my G25.
These issues only show up with these Lotus cars, don't know why and can't be bothered to spend any more time
trying to figure it out. Turning off road effects only slightly helped.
I'm still here for Thursdays of course and will keep an eye out for the next Tuesday season and see what that is like.

Thanks for letting me know I was warping last night Wally. I checked my supposed 100MB Optus via
Speedtest and it was around 3-5MB which is pathetic.
In future I'll just check before the race night, if it's rubbish I will post that I won't turn up. It's a shame ISI didn't
license out their netcode to Kunos as it seems to handle large fields and lower internet speeds a lot better.

Optus are right up there with Dodo as far as crap internet goes.

I have other issues with this mod, for some reason the car keeps jumping, a bit like hitting a large stone here and there on the track,
but with no shock absorption of it. I don't get this on Thursday nights or in any other game.

I'm in please

Thursday Nights fun racing / Re: S6R1: Hungaroring Post-Race Chat
« on: July 25, 2015, 05:29:02 PM »
Thursday night was the best Sim racing I've had in quite a while, really enjoyed it.  I just wish I had come along earlier to
practise in the Cobra as You have to change Your driving to suit the car quite a bit.
I spent the whole of Hungaroring practising, but really enjoyed Blackwood. Race 2 I somehow had too short gear ratios
so was a bit down on top speed.

89
Oops!, missed this post. Please add me Bruce, for both.

For some reason this series didn't inspire me to try very much, and as a result was well down the order.
I think it's just that massively overpowered cars don't interest me too much.

After my 2nd off in race 2 last night I left and played Dirt Rally for an hour or so.

Looks lile next season will have a bit less speed and grip, so I'll keep an eye out for the announcement.
Thanks for the season Wally.
