HTC - Vive Before I try to flog it on Gumtree
« on: April 01, 2022, 10:46:55 AM »
Hi,
My wife bought me a HTC Vive about 5 years ago. I've used it for about 15 hrs all up since I got it. I thought I needed it for sim racing, but should have known better because I get car sick. The best use I've got out of it was just sitting in a car and looking around because it does look pretty cool with the lighting and stuff.
Anyway I've been meaning to sell it for years because I can't drive more than a couple of laps without getting nauseous, and even if I thought I was getting used to it, if the car suddenly stopped because I hit a wall or ditch I'd almost throw up instantly.
It'll be going on Gumtree for $450 on the 15th April. It's the full retail kit: Headset, 2X controllers, 2XBase Stations, 1X link box and all the cables , power , and chargers. Still has the spare face foam.
If anyone would like to purchase it please message me. $380. I'm in Ipswich near Brisbane.
If no-one here wants it that's cool, I just wanted to offer it here first.
Mods: If there's another area in the forums where this would be more appropriate please move it.

Cheers
Darren

That's a good tip about motion sickness. I get car sick (and sea sick), so VR would probably be no good for me.

I'll have to consult with my personal VR expert.

I do not like to bag a product that someone is trying to sell, but resolution specs are low:
Headset Specs
Screen:   Dual AMOLED 3.6'' diagonal
Resolution:   1080 x 1200 pixels per eye (2160 x 1200 pixels combined)
Refresh rate:   90 Hz
Field of view:   110 degrees

HP Reverb G2 specs are:
2160 x 2160 panel resolution per eye
4320 x 2160 pixels combined
social media is the tobacco of this century

It's not bagging if it's accurate Roo. I haven't bothered keeping up with the VR info because I won't be going into VR again unless it can be done without a headset so wouldn't have a clue. I wouldn't want someone to be disappointed, and I should be able to offload it on Gumtree. I just wanted to offer it here first in case anyone wanted it.

Cheers
Darren

It's actually a really good buy for a starting setup. 2 new controllers will cost you more than the asking price alone. Dave O.
NEVER TOO OLD TO RACE ... being competitive can be a PROBLEM though.
