Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Re: S36R8 - Mugello

After the Spa chaos I needed a fun race and Mugello provided. Some fantastic paint scrapping racing with too many people to mention!

Fun races. The first one got caught out in the first lap shenanigans.

Race 2 start was better but Bueller's very conservative start prevented the Alfa's from putting pressure on Dietmar. Rubbing is racing Bueller!! From there I lost lots of time and places while trying to figure out braking bias with soft tires as the rears kept on locking. Ended up moving from 73 bias on hards to 80% on the soft tires. Freezer was an unfortunate by-stander with one of the rear-locking moments at the chicane. His tires seemed to give up the ghost  or maybe his steering wheel made a dash for the exit around lap 9  ;D as it became difficult to keep Joe/Wally in control.

It's the downshifts that's damaging it and I'm not using the clutch at all for them.
I find I have to heel-toe if I right foot brake, but then (with my old knees) I can barely walk the next day from the twisting action required to do it.

Someday I will learn to heel-toe   :-[   For myself I just delay the downshift, always using the clutch. AC developers noted every time you shift without a clutch an Italian engineer shed a tear  ;D

Pleasantly surprised how well the hard tyres worked, the handling felt a lot more neutral than on softs. If only I could stay on track for the first few laps  :'(

Strangely driving through the field it appeared that the BMW struggled more with tyre wear than the rust-buckets.

My focus is on GT3 atm...the others are just lazy... ;)

Always thought people practice offline, thats why they quicker than me  :)

Gonna be some precipitation, at least on Wednesday practice there was, assuming tonight server is set similar

With my setup I'll be dead in the water if there are any rain, took all the wing off. Gambling with a low wing setup ;D

My PB with race fuel is 1:56 flat. You need more practice ;)

I came 3rd out of 13 (only because the guy in front of me ran out of fuel with a couple of corners to go). My CP rating is now... 1! Woo hoo.

Beat you with a 2nd. However the winner was 20 seconds ahead of me  :-[

Also found out if you go into your stats it will give an ELO rating.

Next race at Paul Ricard. Should be fun however if you go off-track at T3 to T5 section don't  take shortcut. On Wednesday people were getting drive through penalties even if they lost time going offtrack there!

Looking forward to Suzuka. From some online laps it looks like the mid-field are going to be extremely close  :)

Well that was a disaster  ;D

Race 1 got hit by a bus on the second corner. Race 3 got hit by a Wally. But still had fun, was privileged to view a good fight by JLynn coming through the field.

... left facing the wrong way, against a barrier on track.

Definitely Mael

Searching for the shortcut :)

I predict some serious pile-ups this week. In the best tradition of street circuits.

Krunch and I have gotten our Lexus to a 45 flat, Cooper has 44's in the Lexus. There was one Aston at in the 45's. And of course the fast guy's in the 42's with Porsche, McLaren etc.

Damn,  I was hoping to be a bit closer  :(

Since a lot of us do races in ACC doing our best to make XGN proud. I thought we could use a tread to discuss upcoming races.

For example next Monday is a sprint race at Hungaroring. I'm currently maxing out in the high 1:46's and want to know how far off the pace I am. Specifically looking at Wally here since he is about the same pace as me.  Bueller can maybe add the info of all the shortcuts he seems to be finding  :P
