Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Season 20
« on: November 28, 2017, 09:45:30 AM »
After the high tech wizardry of the LMP1s, it's time to get back to basics, with some trackday style sprints. I have a single make series in one of the following cars in mind:

  • Porsche Cayman GT4
  • Lotus 3-Eleven
  • KTM XBow-R
  • BMW 235
3 sprints, race 2 in order of race 1 finish, race 3 in reverse order of race 2 finish.

I also want to try some spice: every impact your car has will get a little bit of restrictor for the next race. This is to represent your team not being able to fix your car to 100% between the morning and midday races, for example. It will only be mild - something like an impact between 20 and 40 kph gets 2 points of restrictor, between 40 and 80 gets 5 points of restrictor etc. Nothing for minor scrapes. This would be for car to car impacts (for both cars) and also impacts with barriers. This will add more tension to the racing and may make people be a little more cautious. I.e. there are consequences for hitting things with your car.

I know sometimes it will feel "not fair" if someone else hits you... but that's motor racing, as they say. An emotional roller-coaster.

Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / Next season start?
« on: November 27, 2017, 10:53:17 PM »
Hey fellas, when shall we start the next season? I'm thinking of the upcoming holiday period, when people might be away and what not.

We have the upcoming Tuesdays:

Nov 28 - final race of WEC season
Dec 5
Dec 12
Dec 19
Dec 26
Jan 2
Jan 9
etc.....

Me personally, I'm easy - I'm not going away or anything. We'd probably have 1 or 2 practice/trial runs before the next season starts for real. Has anybody got any preferences or dates they'll not be here?

Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / S19R6: Bahrain Race Chat
« on: November 21, 2017, 11:03:11 PM »
R7, Nov 28: Bahrain [DOWNLOAD] (sakhir - grand prix layout)

Weather is 26 and sunny with a light wind. This is the hottest race of the season.

This is the final round of the season. DC only has a 10 point lead over killagorilla in the GT3 class, so the GT3 championship could come down to the wire. Joe's 3rd place could come under assault from any of Phil, Shayne or Freezer who are all within striking distance.

Matthew has a 9 pt lead in the LMP1 class, but neither Kcender nor Grat will be at Bahrain. After Kcender and Grat, Diehard is 26 points away.

SEASON STANDINGS

Penalties: Mael had passed Bacchulum and was just clear, but Bacchulum sped up a little and hit Mael, who was still on the racing line, in the rear corner, spinning him off the track and causing him to lose several positions. Because Bacchulum should have backed off a little once cleanly passed, a penalty is issued (an extra 25% restrictor).

DC's continuing good form and killagorilla's 9th place finish sees DC move up into the championship lead. A 2nd place finish for Joe sees him jump from 5th to 3rd, leapfrogging Phil and Shayne on the standings.
Aaron Thomas managed to climb 3 spots to 9th, with a solid 4th place.

LMP1
1. Matthew111, 102
2. Kcender87, 93

Australian Assetto Corsa League, Tuesday nights / S19R6: Shanghai Race Chat
« on: November 14, 2017, 11:05:51 PM »
R6, Nov 21: Shanghai (Grand Prix) [DOWNLOAD]

Weather is 22 degrees and clear, with light winds.

Shangahi is a track with quite a few very slow corners and not many places for the LMP1s to stretch their legs. It will be a race requiring some patience.

[youtube]w88z1AGoiVQ[/youtube]

Rolling Start Procedure
We need to maintain more consistent speeds during the formation lap to avoid accidents and collisions. As said before, please don't go higher than 2nd gear and try to maintain a consistent speed, without as much speeding up and slowing down as we had at Paul Ricard. Little speed ups and slow downs at the front of the field are magnified as you go down through the field, which is not fair on the tail of the field.

1. killagorilla, 85
2. DC, 77
3. Phil.8, 58.5

No change in the GT3 podium standings, with DC, Phil.8 and killagorilla all finishing the race on the podium.
Freezer and Aaron Thomas both climbed one spot in the standings.

LMP1
1. Grat, 89
2. Matthew111, 84
3. Kcender87, 68

Grat's race win sees him take the number 1 spot from Matthew111, but missing the last two rounds of the season will cost Grat dearly and give Matthew a good chance to take out his 4th XGN championship.

Penalties: None. On the last corner of lap 1, when I was hit by Kcender, he was trying to make a move on the inside, but there wasn't much overlap at impact, with him hitting my right rear corner. But I could have left more room, so that's a racing incident.

Round 3 takes us to Circuit de la Sarthe (Le Mans) [DOWNLOAD].
We will be running the chicane verson.

Weather is 24 and clear, slight wind.

This will be Rob's 200th Tuesday league race.

Rolling Start Procedure
Rather than do a whole lap because of the length, we'll do an abbreviated rolling start. We'll do the normal single file rolling start through to the Esses, then form into double file at the first red banner. When we go around Tertre Rouge and see the big road signs, that's our Go line for the leaders.
